Yeah, and if someone was tested on a Monday and tested positive, and then retested the following week and still positive, it counted as two positive cases rather than a continuation of the first case.

The recovery rate in Florida is apparently 99.85%.

I was reading that the inaccuracy is with the positivity rate, i.e. the % of positive tests out of total tests. Strangely, it was opposite to what Mëds is saying in that negative tests were counted twice. Also, some labs were reporting only the positive tests and not the negative ones (the 100% infected rate that Rats mentioned).

Anyways, even if you scale back the bars on Per's chart by 1/3, it still shows the spread accelerating. What else can you expect from a state that fired a health official for not massaging the data.

The NIH has a promising vaccine. LINK

All told, it took just 66 days from the time the genome sequence was made available in January to the start of the first-in-human study described in the new peer-reviewed paper.

The volunteers will be tracked for a full year, allowing researchers to monitor their health and antibody production. However, the recently published paper provides interim data on the phase 1 trial’s first 45 participants, ages 18 to 55, for the first 57 days after their second vaccination. The data revealed:

• No volunteers suffered serious adverse events.

• Optimal dose to elicit high levels of neutralizing antibody activity, while also protecting patient safety, appears to be 100 micrograms. Doses administered in the phase 1 trial were either 25, 100, or 250 micrograms.

• More than half of the volunteers reported fatigue, headache, chills, muscle aches, or pain at the injection site. Those symptoms were most common after the second vaccination and in volunteers who received the highest vaccine dose. That dose will not be used in larger trials.

• Two doses of 100 micrograms of the vaccine prompted a robust immune response, which was last measured 43 days after the second dose. These responses were actually above the average levels seen in blood samples from people who had recovered from COVID-19.

These encouraging results are being used to inform the next rounds of human testing of the mRNA-1273 vaccine. A phase 2 clinical trial is already well on its way to recruiting 600 healthy adults. This study will continue to profile the vaccine’s safety, as well as its ability to trigger an immune response.

Meanwhile, later this month, a phase 3 clinical trial will begin enrolling 30,000 volunteers, with particular focus on recruitment in regions and populations that have been particularly hard hit by the virus.

One thing I don’t get is why there aren’t specific age breakdowns readily available

There is generalizations but nothing detailed, also locally here why do they never tell you where the cases are geographically? They say which health region but that’s it.
I don’t know I don’t trust anything or anyone anymore...entirely anyways

There is a better location breakdown based on the past 2 weeks. Something more akin to # of cases/regional district. I agree with limiting the location data to the public. In small communities it will lead to rumour mongering and fear if there are active cases, conversely, knowing there are not any active cases in your community will lead to careless apathy.

The location data is on the BC Covid site under Data

http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/disease ... s/covid-19

Something missing among the fear mongering is that BC has done a stellar job of limiting transmission by social distancing, limiting contacts outside the household and hygiene.

Good article in the National Post this morning

Thanks Tops,

from the NP write up, I thought this is important.
Future clusters of cases should not be considered failures, as long as they are managed appropriately with early identification, case and contact tracing, and root cause analysis of the factors involved in transmission.
Everyday the New starts off with how many new cases occurred in BC, I always thought, so what? Until a vaccine is found that can 100% stop the COVID19 strain then there will always be breakouts. Also of these breakouts how many actually require medical assistance?

Oklahoma governor who rejected mask order tests positive for coronavirus

Oklahoma’s governor, Kevin Stitt, has become the first governor in the United States to test positive for the coronavirus.

Stitt, 48, has backed one of the country’s most aggressive reopening plans, resisted any statewide mandate on masks and rarely wears one himself.

As long as numbers and hospitalizations are low, contract tracing and quick detection are up to snuff. it is good. One thing to watch is spread through the community (bad) as opposed to limited clusters (tolerable and manageable). The goofs from the coast partying in Kelowna should be shot.

LOL, only fools look at horribly age skewed death stats.

Quebec's main issue was its early Spring Break from school when many travelled to Europe and the US bringing home the virus and from there it spread throughout the Province and most concerning, its senior homes.

99.85% of infected people have recovered. Why is the world shutdown till a vaccine is developed?
