That was kind of my point. I wasn't as impressed by his fighting as the homers... and maybe he shouldn't be fighting at all.

He's a big, steady dman that any team would love to have. Not trying to compare him to Zadorov.

Almost as if it were a coachable skill.

Both landed 2 shots. The bigger guy already had the smaller guy unbalanced and falling backwards when he got the last shot in. A bigger opponent with more fighting experience could have easily knocked down/out Nikishin, who had his chin up and leaning forward.

Recall Podkolzin, who was absolutely crushed in his first fight so badly that nobody wanted to see him drop the gloves ever again. He must have learned how because in the last few bouts, he's won decisively. Man, I wish we still had that guy.

That said, Nikishin could end up being a tough out if he improves his fight game. We could absolutely used some of this for our charmin soft group.
I don't know lots about fighting, but love watchin' it in the NHL. And I think the players do too. Brings teams together.

I was just inferring that, that its rare that any of our guys do it, even when they aren't good at it - as you say about Nikishin - to stick up for themselves, or others. And its tough to watch.

I'd love to see a bout between him and Meaty... all offense, vs all defense. Chin up boys!

Nobody can get a kill shot past Meaty's butcher blocks!

Sabres spank Bo and the Islanders 5-0.

How did they become beastmode like this? Flipped the switch just from firing their GM? Why couldn't they pull this off earlier with all those top picks over the years?

But I love seeing this run from our expansion cuz.

Sometimes all you need is culture change. When you axe the dude who built the culture, that sends a message to the carriers of the culture.

I’d say give it a whirl here, but our roster does not have the talent that Buffalo’s does.

Culture change, you say? Ahem :look:

That is why we need to acquire bullets and endure the pain. There are no shortcuts, we've tried this forever and it's clearly not a road to long-term success.

There is no other way if you want to build something long-lasting and give you consistently good teams for a long period of time.

Vancouver made a culture change trade a year ago.

Come on Flames, you had a 2 goal lead, don’t blow it until you are in OT.
