I had to get a slightly bigger phone so my fingers can type better and I can see the font.

Carry reading glasses to read the back of the effing medication and other food items.
That is one of my biggest pet peeves - everything is written in such a small font. I hate when I have to borrow my wife's glasses at a restaurant in order to be able to read the damn menu. I have enough trouble remembering to carry my phone and wallet, without having to worry about glasses. I do have artificial lenses in both eyes, and while it really helps my eyesight, it doesn't do shit for reading small print.

And to Corn's point - my birthday is closer to 1900 than it is to today, by 20 years :look: :look:

Use your phone. Put it in camera mode and zoom in on the menu.

If you have shaky hands. Make a picture and zoom in. Delete the pic after reading. 👻
1953 just 7 years younger than my father and he still don't know how to delete a pic. I'm explaining it to him nearly every weekend. 🙈

You know, you old guys don't even have to do that. You can zoom in on anything on your screen, it doesn't have to be a photo.

Hey, that's why we have kids - to do all the computer/gadget stuff for us    No shaky hands yet

My neighbor is 79 years old and doesn't have a clue on how to use any electronic stuff. He can answer his cell phone and he can make calls, but that is about it. Texting - forget it. Good thing his wife knows how to use a computer.

In 2026 these songs celebrate 50 years of existence.

Hotel California
Don't Fear the Reaper
More than a Feeling
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (sounds like a Cuz bio)
Go Your Own Way
The Boys are Back in Town

50 years before that Baby Face and Bye Bye Blackbird were 2 of the top hits of the day.

I can verify that 50 years ago then felt a whole helluva lot longer ago in the past than when Hotel California coming out does now.
Great songs, even the one on the list I don’t personally care for (More Than A Feeling), I really appreciate what’s going on in that song from a craft perspective.

Forget where has the time gone. Where has greatness in popular music gone?

Is there such a thing as 'popular music' anymore? Growing up, we all listened to the radio CKLG, then CFOX, etc, bought what albums were available and had a common connection to most things 'popular'.

I'm sure there are still bands out there creating music that would appeal to our basic tastes, take us back to those 'classic' years and we would enjoy the hell out of them. But you won't hear it on the radio. You need to hunt it down, find a streaming station that plays music you like and hope there's something that pops up - then you have to remember the name of the band of that one song you like and find the album. and on it goes. :D

When we grew up, music was varied, and we could pick and choose a little, then develop our own tastes.

Here's the top 10 from 1972 - I bet most of us know these songs quite well (whether we liked them or not).

"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" – Roberta Flack
"Alone Again (Naturally)" – Gilbert O'Sullivan
"American Pie" – Don McLean
"Without You" – Harry Nilsson
"A Horse with No Name" – America
"I'll Take You There" – The Staple Singers
"Let's Stay Together" – Al Green
"Brand New Key" – Melanie
"Baby Don't Get Hooked on Me" – Mac Davis
"Without You" – Harry Nilsson

Here's the current top 10:

Choosin' Texas – Ella Langley
Man I Need – Olivia Dean
I Just Might – Bruno Mars
Ordinary – Alex Warren
Golden – HUNTR/X: EJAE, Audrey Nuna & REI AMI
So Easy (To Fall In Love) – Olivia Dean
SWIM – BTS
Stateside – PinkPantheress & Zara Larsson
Opalite – Taylor Swift
American Girls – Harry Styles

I have no idea what any of these songs are, but I'm guessing there's some kids who know them all and will remember them into their 60s.

There's still a lot of great music out there, and I'm as guilty (or more so) as anyone for living in the past.

I have a little idea what my kid listens to, but I do know the music I've played for him when he was younger has had a huge influence. I'll get him to connect his phone for music on a drive so I can hear some of it. One day it is 60's-70's Motown soul, another it is 70's-80's punk, next it's 90's indie college stuff. The other day he tells me John Coltrane is showing up in his Spotify feed. He tells me his buddies have no idea what he's talking about when he makes musical references in their conversations. How many 16 year old kids sing along to Bowie's Low or ask their music teacher if they can learn 21st Century Schiziod Man?
