Well done...
Makes sense in that there are no real upgrades at the centre position on the open market and the team has some kids on the farm who can probably provide the same production as the market options so why not keep Brock?...
So frustrating watching Farhan Lalji turning himself into a pretzel finding something to bitch about in how the team managed Brock...
And as pointed out, 3 Americans who resigned in a Canadian maket and that cesspool known as Vancouver...
Take care...

Ok, with no money available to sign a centre we got
Pettersson
Chytil
Raty
And who else down the middle?
Mueller - he’s gonna be a player, could be on the big club by Christmas.
Blugers
Aman
Sasson
Joshua - used to play centre - could be worth an experiment.

So a whole bunch of bottom 6 centres and Pettersson and mushy head Chytil?

I suspect since the’ve signed enough wingers and some are pushing from Abbotsford, they’ll package Silovs with Hoglander, O’Connor or Joshua to clear some cap space, and flip that package for a prospect 2C somewhere.
Likely more moves will be made, but may not be today.
But if not…it is what it is.

I wonder if BB got to see what was being offered up and realized maybe it's not so bad after all getting 4+ months off a year.
I bet Minny didn't call which is in line with what we've heard over the years. I suspect they don't value his foot speed seeing they're a speedy forechecking team.

I think they're going back to the bargain bin later this summer. They've done pretty well there these past few years.
For me the Boeser, Demko and Garland signings all hint to appealing to QH as much as building around those 3. It's not the worst path forward either considering the talent he brings

Maybe a little of both. Boeser got to see what the market was and the Canucks got to see someone was willing to give term. All along it was a hold up about term, money apparently was not the issue. Kept it below 8 so I am happy with that. Not too much of an increase but I dont like the 7 year term. With no-one else on the market and a lack of good RW prospects outside of the kid, better the devil you know.

Its more than that. It goes to lack of ability to get a deal done at a reasonable cost. I for one am glad they didn't go crazy on the trade front. I like that Cootes kid. We were never going to be big players this offseason. They made some mistakes these past two seasons but they didn't compound them , yet, today.

Jake Allen reups in New Jersey -- 5 years, 1.8M AAV. Given that he's 34, it might be more reasonable to think of this as providing 3 year 3M value at a 1.8 AAV, and if Allen starts an age decline or gets the yips, more than 2/3rds of the AAV can be buried in the minors once the league minimum salary increases.
Allen probably could have made more elsewhere, so this is below market for "good backup," but that market surely isn't 5 years at 4.5M AAV and a NMC....
Are you suggesting that Allen is equivilent to Lankinen?...
Or that 5 and $22.5 is not a contract he'd receive if he was on the market today?
Take care...
I could not possibly comment.

Tocchet loves him.
Good to see, I always felt he was sometimes overly criticized here.

Considering that the pundits were talking about Boeser perhaps being able to command anywhere between Guentzel's $9 million and $7.5 million, this smacks of non-monetary factors.
This FA market seems weird this year. A lot of the big names have been traded and/or signed beforehand, but even then the transactions have been a trickle feed with not a lot of big players moving in the first hour like usual. Not too much money being stupidly thrown about either, though Gavrikov's contract may stink towards the end, when one thinks about the cap going up.
Back to Brock, though, perhaps the bigger-money offers were from teams Boeser may not have been interested in going to - money notwithstanding.
Likewise, Allvin and Co. failed to nab a 2C in trade and the FA options for top-6 forwards perhaps looked prohibitive (I wonder what the bids are for Ehlers?) or otherwise unattractive.
Maybe it was the familiarity on both sides, maybe the grass didn't look greener in other pastures. Looking at both Boeser and Garland and their history with management, it's funny how both sides looked at times like they wanted a trial separation before reconciling on long-term deals. It is to wonder how the players feel about their relationship with management with some of these dramas seemingly on the go at any one time.
With DeBrusk, Boeser and Kane that's not a bad base of wingers in the top 6. As for centres, though, unless something dramatic happens it looks like we'll have to get used to a serviceable 1st line (assuming Petey bounces back) and two good 3rd lines instead of having a "2nd line". Not sure how much of a recipe for contention that will be, but a good blueline and Bubble Demko can paper over some of those warts.

My son said this was a good day for the Canucks, if only because Juulsen is no longer a Canuck - though he would have preferred Juulsen volunteering for the first one-way solar space probe.

I haven't noticed him here today. He may still be in the fetal position trying to reconcile with this turn of events.
