Re: Coaching Search - Candidates/Discussion and Predictions
Tocchet never really feuded with the media - outside of trading shots with Lalji the odd time. In fact, I think he was one of the better coaches in Vancouver when it came to dealing with the media. The drama didn't start until the topic of his not having an extension became the story that would not go away. That's not the media's fault.

Rumours are... he beat out Tocchet for the job.
Rick "I Want to Coach in the East" Tocchet.

Never forget: That fucker stabbed us in the back and left us for dead.
Now they say he may sign in Boston...

Re: Coaching Search - Candidates/Discussion and Predictions
My knocks on Tocchet are there are some good NHL players he just can’t find a way to work with - Kuzmenko, OEL, and maybe Petey?
I also didn’t like the way he manages goalies. He unwisely overplayed his starters, and is slow to pull a goalie if he is having a bad game.
I liked the way Manny yanked Silovs in game two after falling behind three goals and put the backup in. Tocchet wouldn’t have done that, which isn’t great.

SN floating that Marco Sturm could be our next coach.
Team Fucking Europe emerging on the West Coast.
But hey, why not…..the Canucks are already so butter-soft that they’d likely get their mullets tossed in the Swedish League.

Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

I wager/hope it was out of due diligence. Sturm doesn't move the needle for me.
CA talking the plusses and minuses of Woodcroft. He did better than Tippett, and got the Oil to the conference Finals, but got knocked out in the 2nd round and then promptly fired because he couldn't get them to switch from a man-to man to a zone coverage scheme. He has a history of not adapting to what wrinkles the opposition throws at the time within a game or a series.
Pass.

It might be wise to sign Manny right now, perhaps it's Manny Time. Another year in Abby like this one, and he's probably gone. He's likely two and done in the AHL the way things are going. I would try to surround him with experienced assistants who could help him on his first tour. Use some of that money Mr Aquilini is saving on the head coach.

Perhaps they could even find some more dough to sign their best, unsigned, prospect.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 5:50 pm It might be wise to sign Manny right now, perhaps it's Manny Time. I love the PNE.
The more I think about it, give the job to Manny. Dude is well spoken, intelligent and well respected.

What about giving Wilbrod another go? He’s doing a bang up job coaching Gavin McKenna and the Medicine Hat Tigers. I’m not seeing the clipboard anymore, although, the clipboard was awesome and would miss it if he came back without it
