Better than an all-star weekend - but I think it's too much an 'Olympic-sized' break for not much reward.
Hughes could use the rest - or he might just be fine not taking a break.

Ok what is the appeal, the thing you hope to see? For me it would be seeing the second coming of Bobby Orr on the ice, our captain, playing with his brother and other excellent players

I like the theory of 'Best on Best'. It grows the game and is great hockey...
What I don't like is the gimmick of a one off tourney with no tradition, and no reason to get the competitive juices flowing (like the Olympics).
They need to start a tourney (every 4 years, offset to Olympics), give it a good name (bring back the Canada Cup!), get some national pride behind it, and build some traditions around it. No Gimmicks....

I don't like how it is in the middle of the season, I guess it will be better than the even worse 'All Star Game and festivities.'

Gotta agree with this - maybe this year's tourny is a lot of fun, good hockey, and people enjoy it (?) - maybe it's a flop? But who cares, we'll probably be back all-star weekend again next year and onward. Without a schedule for the fans and players to buy into, it's just a gimmick.
