What a shit show. I haven’t seen this kind of mismanagement of a room since god the fuck knows when. Brown banging McLean’s wife?
Schaefer banging Lindens wife? Not sure what’s been worse. The Linden/Messier power struggle?
Never heard that one, at least management turned him into Salo.
Consider the source…..
Putting your hurt feelings aside, Mëds, just maybe I’ve heard some things, not all, but some. I mean, I knew, by one degree of separation, someone who was dealing an illicit drug to an ex-Canuck player from the Gillis era.

Yes, that was the story. But as you know, could be complete bullshit
....move EP for a young centre (Cozens) and a D (Byram) and be done with it.
If you want Power (rumored to be acquirable) juice the deal.
Get.
This.
Over.
With.
....build from there.....
I agree, be done with it.

I found the bit about the "on-board terrorist" interesting.....and not because it reminded me of our Ol' Chef here at these parts.
There is the concept of the on-board terrorist... Note, on-board terrorists are not bad people, their behaviours are contrary to the culture of the organization. They may fit in perfectly well in another organization... these are the high performing individuals in an organization that management will cut some slack because they are afraid they'll lose their performance. The issues arise, though, when the other players either start to emulate the negative behaviours of the top player, or more simply their performance drops because of what they're seeing...
He goes on to talk about these people having very high personal standards and how problems arise when other teammates don't hold themselves as personally accountable as he holds himself. This leads to them becoming critical, which leads to those teammates getting too tight and making more mistakes because they are overthinking shit.
This reads two ways to me.
One, Miller is an on-board terrorist because he has a high personal standard and expects the same of others, and he's an old-school, alpha asshole, who has no problem being vocal. In a sense you end up having a teammate who is conducting himself in a role that belongs to the coach, hence the disruption in chemistry within the locker room.
However, I have not seen coaching or management cut JT much slack. Tocchet has been vocal about Miller's shortcomings and inconsistencies since day one. Miller responded with his best season as a Canuck (which is saying something for a guy who was already a point-per-game player). Miller has been benched. He was almost certainly called in and talked to about shit which led to him requesting the leave of absence. That doesn't sound like something being overlooked.
Also, I consider one of JR's previous teams.....the Penguins. Crosby has a reputation for being a very demanding teammate. High standards for himself, but expecting that others bring the same. Players have commented about how any teammates that weren't pulling their weight would be called out, and that guys who couldn't handle it were often shipped out or not re-signed. Obviously Miller is no Sid, so you don't necessarily let it ride out as long as you would for a generational franchise talent like Crosby. But.....it is no secret that the top players who want to win are demanding of themselves and their teammates.
Two, Pettersson is the on-board terrorist because he is a highly talented, high-performing, player who has been cut tons of slack for his on-ice product. He has been publicly "coddled" by coaches and management up until the last month. His values during his ELC were said to have been personal brand first, team second. He has never shown up to camp looking like he worked out and bulked up over the summer. He is rumoured to have been recorded saying that Miller is a hot-head while vacationing on a beach somewhere this past summer (I haven't seen this video, but would like to if true). He has never responded well to any criticism, regardless of the source. He has routinely, since arriving here as a rookie, been called out by fans and media for pouting when things don't go his way. These all fit with a guy who doesn't mesh with the culture that was advertised last season.
Frankly, in a sport like NHL hockey, I think that a player who gets all the money and headlines, who then gets in a funk when called out for not performing, will have a more destructive effect on the culture of a locker room when the successful individuals in the league have historically been alpha male assholes who dig in and push all the harder when rubber meets road.

Now, now, Chef.....you seem to be a tad on the sensitive side today. Is this what a trolled troll looks like?

Without further ado, the Great Strangelove will now present his theory.
JR is being deceptive when he infers he doesn't care which one of HT/Petey is shipped out.
JR is being deceptive when he claims "They just can't get along, so we must deal one... doesn't matter which."
On that false premise he talks with many teams about both players, trying to spark a bit of a bidding war on each.
The truth: ONE of them is a huge problem and that is the one who will be dealt.
JR + Allvin know who that is, but we don't (hopefully other Prez/GMs don't know either).
As you were, smoke 'em if you've got 'em...

I think you're right but JT sticking around is not going to age well. You just know EP will go off and win an Art Ross spurring a generation of Chef/Gillis Blob/Benning like insanity
They're both gone along with Boeser. They're not even pretending they'll try with Brocket99

No...I do not know that....in fact I'll venture my $500.00 to your $50.00 to the site 5 years from today that EP will have 0 Art Ross Trophies.
Also, there is way to much JT is a good teamate/warrior/beast/missing piece for a Cup Contender out there in "where it matters land" that him staying and EP going is the ride I'm rolling with.

So we have Miller for another 5 years. If we keep him and ship Petey, fine - but do we then have to worry about the next twinkie that gets butt-hurt?
What a fuckin' sideshow this is turning into. When management plays their hand like this, it's worse than waiting for Coach Bruce to get fired.
