Yeah, a part of me wouldn't mind just paying the price by giving up a significant asset to get rid of him this coming season and use that money to get a good free agent like Hamonic. I'd just think of it like a trade, giving up a pick/prospect to get whatever free agent we sign.

Maybe we get lucky at TDD and someone needs an elite penalty killer and he fits the bill.

If worse comes to worse, there might be a chance to move him in his final year of his contract. I think after he gets his signing bonus, only $3M in real dollars is left to payout. If we're lucky, we might be able to find a taker as we add a mid-round pick or 2nd tier prospect. I can almost see the light @ the end of the tunnel to get rid of Loui.
