I think Raty could round out to be a decent 3rd line centre. But don’t see a top 2 line centre in him. Canucks need to start stock piling centres through the draft given Millers age.

I'd guess Raty and our 1st are who the Baldersons are dangling for a defenseman not EP or Miller.
The only ones speculating on moving those 2 are from the out of town media ie: "
eastern bums and creeps"
Probably only BCExpat will know that reference
Looking at the Canucks back end depth, you are correct master chef. I doubt the Canucks are moving any of their top 3 defense prospects (Willander/EP2.0/Mynio) withiut getting an equivalent level d asset back who may be a year or 3 further along.(See Owen power)
No matter how poorly our top two centres are getting along (apparently), there is no way we are trading Pettersson or Miller with how shitty our depth at centre is, presently and in the future.
With a Hronek healing and Willander coming (at season’s end) along with his old running mate -D-Pete playing great in Abby, our D situation moving forward is much healthier looking than our centre situation
I agree they need centres in the worst way. Should be picking a couple early the way the draft is shaping up. I see a player in Raty though. I think he will be a solid middle 6 Centre down the road.
Way too early to say the book is in on Raty. He's only got 35 NHL games under his belt. Let's see what he looks like after 100.

This is right, and makes all the difference. The delta between Cole and Z and Juulsen/Forbert/Desharnais isn't all that much when the players are playing 16 minutes a night with some attempt to not have them on the ice against the Nathan Mackinnon's of the world. But once there's an injury and once of them needs to play 20+ without the ability to protect them much in match ups, the difference is quite noticeable.
Just had to say, Fartbort is a cheap clone version of Carson Sushi and Desharnais is the cheap clone version of Myzy57.
Desharnais is kinda growing on me. Sure he's not as nasty and doesn't have the swagger/personality/skill of Zaddy, but big Vinny plays with an edge and is willing to use his size/muscle to his advantage (much like Z). Not like some of the gentle giants we had in the past. He's only getting paid a fraction of what Zaddy got and way less term ($2M X 2). As much as I liked Zaddy, I think mgmt made the right call there.

Agreed. I have been quite impressed with Raty. He kinda reminds me of PS24, but bigger and hopefully more talented and more upside.

Really get a laugh out of the Arm Chairs out there in the Ethernet trading one of our centres (Miller or Pettersson) for a top 4 D-man with zero fucking centres on the team or in the system to replace them on the top 2 lines.
Also, our top 4 D situation is in a much better position than our centre position moving forward, with Willander and his former WJC partner - D-Pete on the way. We will be getting Hronek back for the playoffs.
We took a a guy named Riley Patterson in the most recent draft. He's still a long shot, but he's coming along nicely in juniors, almost ppg and 14Gs already. I'm keeping an eye on him and hope he develops into a poor man's Kesler17.
I like D-Petey as well, but he doesn't seem to have much O in his game. I project him more for a bottom pairing guy, but hope to be wrong.
Agreed though, mgmt should keep stockpiling on D and centres, especially of the RS variety in the draft/prospect pool.

He's not a bust. He's just an asset that may be worth more to us in what he can bring back as opposed to his ceiling as a 3/4 checking C. July 1st is an easy place to find a depth center

22 years old , good f/o %, yet his ceiling has already been determined to be a 3 - 4 checking line C.
From elite prospects:
He generates so much power on every release by sacrificing a quick drawback, instead taking his sweet time loading downforce into his lever-action wrister. It’s a hard, accurate shot when he has the time and space to send it on net. He’ll drive the centre lane with the puck on nearly every entry, and he isn’t shy about setting up shop at the net-front even if it means paying a physical toll on every shift.

Hey man I'd love for those draft year prognosis's to come true but I see more of a solid two way( albeit limited offensively gifted) center.
You have to give up to get and Id rather hang onto defenders to maximize the likelihood of one or more developing into something that seems damn near impossible to trade for...quality NHL calibre defensemen

The Christmas break may not have been enough time for Vancouver Canucks stars Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson to get back to full health.
Canucks coach Rick Tocchet told reporters on Friday that the two players are unlikely to play Saturday's game against the Seattle Kraken, per Patrick Johnston of Postmedia.

Sounds like Petey & Hughes will probably be out for tomorrows game.
I assume Suter will fill in for Petey.
Does Soucy / Myers become ourtop pair??
Who rounds out the left D?
Brainstorm,Forbert or Brisebois?

Hughes being out might be the best thing to happen to this team right now.
This will likely highlight just how poor the blueline is (not that it needed highlighting for most of us) and how dependent the entire team’s success is on Hughes.

Time for our defense to Step Up. Same for out forwards supporting the D. Time to Step Up 2 : All In.

I wonder if Megs thinks our D in Abby is better than this?
