I’d be inclined to stick with what they have rather than spend assets for Simmons.
If they make the playoffs, I’m not really expecting them to win the cup (though I’d love to see it)
The team is so young, so the goal should be to get playoff experience and then start going for playoff success next year and beyond. Simmons doesn’t help with that.
I’d be more inclined to see Benning make a hockey trade that helps the team long term.
Something like what we talked about above: Boeser for Dobson, or Bertuzzi for Demko if Marky resigns.
Now if Simmons comes here really cheap and creates cap space going forward that would be okay, but otherwise give some minutes to MacEwen, Bailey and Lind and let them have a taste. They are the ones who have a chance to be with the club long term.
A 7 game series is going to see whoever we play taking runs at Pettersson and Hughes. Thats 150% guaranteed and unless we have some tougher soldiers to counter that it'll end in injury. We cant have that these kids need someone to step in there.
Getting bitch slapped around does absolutely nothing for the confidence of a twiggy kid.
The Wayne Train can potentially be that piece and will most likely come for a 3rd rounder at the most.
But there's that horrid plus/minus. Where it may help in one way, it hurts in another. I doubt Green's coaching can fix his problem of being
on the ice for goals against.
+/- is closely tied to team performance Mick...obviously hes on a bottom feeder and that needs to be considered with an eye on how bad the devils have sucked.
Simmonds wont be driving the breakout. He will need to be able to chip pucks past the d on an ozone pinch, bang in garbage goals and be the first man into the scrums to stick up for his buddies

There is nothing wrong with inquiring what the Devils want. There are a couple players on this team that barely deserve to breathe
the air on NHL ice. Because of the abrasive history of his game, other teams will be asking.

Apparently Tampa traded for Coleman. A 1st rounder and Nolan Foote. What a great deal for the Devils. I’m curious if that’s Vancouver’s pick.
UDELL Vancouver couldn’t afford to match that price. What would the equivalent be? Hoglander and a 1st.... maybe? You prepared to pay that? Madden and a 1st perhaps. Fuck that. Coleman is a nice little player but this team needs to hang onto its kids/picks.
So it is the Canucks pick according to Doc. Get in, win a round + and make sure it’s done with in June. Still a real nice deal for the Devils. Tampa had the currency to pony up. Coleman now gets two looks at a cup.

There’s always the chance that Foote and the 1st won’t even amount to a hill of beans when the dust settles. You talk of prospects and picks as if they are a sure thing

The Devils are loading up the farm after the Hall and Coleman trades. Too bad their two first overall picks are kinda stinky. Bet they wish they had Pettersson and Quinn instead of Hischier and Jack.

No we made our splash move in the summer. The rumoured asking price was a 2nd and a b prospect but a 1st and top end d prospect? Fuck thats YUUUUGE
It’s Nolan Foote, the younger one. He is playing in Kelowna right now and is a winger. Both Footes are pretty damn good prospects
