At another blog I frequent there is some one who is currently working in the NHL in a research and development capacity. He and a poster who follows the Avalanche are saying that two parts of Tyson Barrie's game that are his weakest are skating and breakout passes. The Avs fan said that Barrie gets most of his points jumping in on the rush as a fourth guy. So Barrie doesn't come with what the Canucks need the most in a defensemen, the ability to made good outlet passes.

Now you have to ask yourself. Who’d you rather have at 7 per? Hayes, Nylander or OEL?

I know he’s a good player but he would be the fifth best player on the team. That’s not a bad thing. 8.25 is the problem.

The Yotes retain $1.25 million and we pay him what Hayes and Nylander. That’s excellent! OEL is far more valuable than those two goobers
