Should we take this time to discuss the Genius of Jim Benning, Docs on the money 1-2 year prediction.
Even if they qualified for post season this year, Doc was out by one season. He said they’d make it last season
Right or wrong... I, for one was lifted up by Doc’s predictions after too many years of horrendous hockey.
It was a good season and a reason for optimism. It’s a shame they didn’t get to finish but them’s the breaks. Originally I had them as making it in next season so if they made it, I also would have been out by one season. That said, after a solid summer for management, I did predict playoffs for this year and 96 points.
All in all a positive season and finally some reasons to be optimistic about the future.
“I don’t care what you and some other poster were talking about”
I have thought the Canucks were going to make the playoffs each and every season since 1982 when Roger Nielsen created towel power.
Before that I was only slightly sceptical.
Mind you I have also thought they’ll win the cup each season, too.
I’ve learned to live with disappointment.
So it goes without saying, I was easily convinced Benning was a genius as soon as he got the job, but then again, at the time, I also thought Bill Laforge was going to take us to the promised land.
So, as they say, ignorance is bliss.
I really don’t know what that means, but I feel very happy.
