I stand by my prediction... the leaves do better than the Canucks this year.
I'd avatar-bet you, but you'd just disappear for months as usual so what's the point amirite?
Nice to know you're a Leaf-sympathizer, oh the pain you've endured!!
Get ready for more.
(always knew there was something twisted about you Derwood, no offense intended)

I love how they've screwed themselves out of Franson.
I hadn't realised that bit about Nonis not even needing an extension. Tim Leiweke seems a bit bonkers. Whenever I've worked with execs like that it always ends badly because they naively think everything is simple; or that Steve Jobs' reality distortion field can work for them too.
Everything isn't simple. You aren't Steve Jobs.
Have fun Leaf fans!

Either him or Liles (overpaid but a nice depth dee to have around).
Like I said in another post, they could use a regular buyout on Liles.
I thought the 48-hour buyout window opened for them when they signed Fraser
... but apparently it opens on Friday.
Anyway, Nonis is incompetent and the Leaves will miss the playoffs.
Leafers will be heartbroken after last season's fluke getting their hopes up.

Best line... "As for the majority of Leaf fans, they’re still staring stoically at their televisions from the same seat in which they watched the third period of Game 7."

TheAverage JBo got extended. "Jay Bouwmeester re-signed to a 5 year contract worth $27M or $5.4M AAV"
Pietrangelo could now ask for $7.5M per.

I'd give it to him.

The JBo extension just highlights the lunacy of the deal Sutter gave him before - under a 20% lower ceiling Bouwmeester got 20% more money.. sure some people hadn't accepted that he is a second rate "first rate" player at that point but the writing was on the wall IMO.

Berglund might be traded to make room for Pietrangelo and Paajarvi. Too bad, the Canucks do not have the cap room to take on Berglund's contract. He would be an ideal 3rd line centre.

Report: Kings and Clifford agree to deal
By TheScore.com August 02, 2013
The Kings and young bottom-six winger Kyle Clifford, who is currently a restricted free-agent, have agreed on a new contract according to a report from John Hoven of the Mayor's Manor blog.
Kyle Clifford matched his career highs in points and goals during the lockout shortened 2012-13 campaign. He's generally played fourth-line minutes at this point in his NHL career, but he's also twenty-two years old and may still possess some untapped potential offensively.
With Clifford's new deal going into the books, the Kings will have 24 players, and 13 forwards, on one-way contracts. They'll also be over the salary cap, which they can exceed by 10% until the opening of the regular season. So expect some forthcoming roster moves from Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi...

St. Louis Blues @StLouisBlues
The Blues have agreed to a two-year contract extension with Magnus Paajarvi.
http://bit.ly/138Laqq #stlblues
Jeremy Rutherford @jprutherford
Paajarvi's AAV is $1.2 million for two years. #stlblues
With 13 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goalies, the Blues has $8.8m left. If the rumour is true that Pietrangelo wants $7m+, the Blues will have around $1.5m cap room after. It might be tight for a budget-conscious team like the Blues.

wow - again can anyone, anyone explain to me why they went on strike again?
Say what you will about the Nucks but at least MG has not thrown around any stupid contract lately (do you notice I said lately?) The Luongo contract is bad but only because of the length, his cap hit is awesome compared to some others.
