You know what else people have said is coming year after year? The second coming of christ. Still waiting.
They have pieces alright. POS's on D and in goal...and in the front office.
They have direction too. Straight to the bottom. 30th place again.
Its like oiler fans keep telling us, year after year after year after year. Sooner or later you're bound to be right but it won't be this year. And that won't give them or you the right to say I told you so. Even a blind squirrel will find a nut sooner or later.

I hope you're right about that but I'm extremely doubtful.

I figure they'll be drafting high next year, hopefully they don't win the lottery.

Hopefully they draft another bust like Marner will no doubt become.

I hate the leaves as much as anyone but I'd take Marner any day. And Mathews and Nylander. If they don't fuck it up that could be a pretty decent team in two to three seasons.

Ahh but they will fuck it up, the Hockey Gods will make sure of that.

They always do.

Mathews and Nylander can't save that sinking ship.

And Marner will bust...

Watching that really takes the sting out of being a Canucks fan - at least we're not celebrating runs to the Conference finals 23 years later!

I wonder if the Leaves fan can leave behind the loser mentality - I mean, they still think going to game 7 in the 1st round is something to be lauded.

Had the Leaves not been saved from the shortened season, they would have locked up the record for longest playoff drought, which is really too bad, its the only chance this generation has of seeing hockey history being made in Toronto.

After watching Matthews play in the World Cup it is easy to see why he went number one. They have Reilly on D and that is about that. How long is Gardiner going to take to break out. Seems they have waited for years on him. Net will be interesting. Guy has talent but can he be a stud? I think Marner is a sign of things to come regarding his size. Kid is loaded with talent but can he stand up to what is coming his way. Johnny Hockey can so maybe.

I would not be surprised if they finished in the top 20 or so. I have nothing against them as I was a huge Leaf fan pre- 1970. Would rather they won a Cup before another American team but unlikely to say the least.

Its not like we trot out the 94 team every 30 games or anything... 8-)

I will forever hold the 94 team in my heart Padraig. A good gritty team that had the best and most exciting player in Vancouver Canucks history. I can't imagine Bure getting speedbagged or biting and diving and folding like a cheap tent. Diduck or Serge wouldn't have stood around and watched guys getting close lined and clipped by rats like Marchand and Mcquaid. Pat Quinn would have done something other than giggle and chew gum at the bench.
