This Zary kid is good (a 2020 draft prospect)

Concussions? - Soderstrom! Warning sign? Cozens skating continues to impress for a tall guy, moves like he’s 5’-11” speedster with the puck. Love Krebs motor and skill combination. Rees, Zary and Tommasino are good players
Have you seen Moritz Seider (German) play? other than Soderstrom it looks like he's the only other RHD ranked in the top 30.
He hasn’t seen any of them play other than a YouTube clip

Soderstrom is much different than Broberg, controls the game better and definitely a better overall player IMHO. Broberg reminds me a bit of Virtanen, tons of talent, size and skating but his hockey sense sucks. He’s risky, could put it together and become amazing but my bet is he doesn’t. Wouldn’t be my pick.

Podkolzin has been disappointing, though again I find Russian players rarely do anything spectacular in tournaments like this, even when the team does well. Supposedly may be injured as well. He does have a drive unlike most I have seen in this draft, will go through a wall to get to the net.

Caufield has been better than I thought he would be, that shot is lethal and he knows how to get open.

Krebs has been good both ways but not spectacular.

Boldy I’ve liked, if he can pick up an extra step on his skating he will be a 1st line winger because his hands and head are as good as any player in this draft.

Newhook has looked very good all tourney, his skating still looks very good and he’s done everything you want. I still think he’s a winger at the NHL level and could be a 1st liner if he develops well, because the skill and tools are there.

Stock up - Caufield, Newhook, Broberg, Rees
Stock down - Podkolzin, Zegras, Suzuki, Soderstrom (injury - he was very good before he got concussed)

I also wonder what this does for a guy like Dach, who hasn’t played - does he slip because of it? GMs love their decency bias and players they can scout themselves, and most of them seem to be in Sweden right now.

Krebs is always around the puck, a very competitive kid with the skill to boot. Always wants to make something happen, great IQ

Cozens is good but he does get a bit Virtanen dumb sometimes

I was most impressed with Krebs and Cozens on the top line. Like Caulfield, Newhook was the beneficiary of having very good linemates

Broberg does look like he has a dumb Sopel side to his game.

I wouldn’t touch Suzuki with a first round pick. He was invisible

Would love Korczak with our 2nd round pick or Rees

Keep an eye out for Cam York to be a sneak pick in the draft. Had a great game today helping Team USA destroy Team Canada in the bronze game.

2019 D-men ranking?

1. Byram
2. Broberg
3. Soderstrom
4. York
5. Harley
6. Seider
7. Robertson
8. Korczak
9. Heinola
10. Bjornfort
11. Vlasic

I think from 10th pick to 15th or so will be a concession of defenceman. Broberg, Soderstrom, York, Harley and Seider.

It would be nice if Jimbo can somehow acquire a mid 1st round pick. Tanev may be the only way that happens. Not happening

I think there will be a good forward available at 10.

There should be if consider the top 10 to end up something like

Hughes
Kakko
Turcotte
Byram
Cozens
Boldy
Dach
Zegras
Podkozlin
Krebs

That leaves Caulfield (ew) and Newhook. I think there is a good chance Caulfield goes ahead of us and maybe one of those mid 1st round ranked D-men.

I believe two of Newhook, Krebs, Podkozlin, Caulfield, Zegras or Boldy will be available at 10. I think Jim takes a D-man if Boldy isn’t there

At the same time, I believe Jim may succumb to pleasing the crowd, taking a D-man could ignite the fire brigade (1040/HF). Could see him taking a crowd pleaser like Caulfield in Jim’s contract year which will go against everything he stands for.

Don't mean to be crude, but it's f**king hard this year, isn't it? All I can say is BPA, I guess.
