If you listen to frank the tank interview today you'll hear that the 11.6 price was deemed a team win as there were all sorts of rumours swirling of a contract that started with a 12 or 13.

Teams will be calling to get the distressed asset for cheap because everyone knows the risk the Canucks are taking by hanging on to the malcontent little twat.

The little fucker will almost certainly go off for his new team when he gets away from the drama

Yeah, 11.6 is on Rutherford. If they had originally dealt Petey for that Carolina deal, kept Miller, Tocchet is still coaching in Vancouver. A comedy of errors, sadly. Now we are about to try and get out from under 11.6 with what I imagine will be an ultra shitty return. Hard to believe we were once the envy of the league with three legit top 2 line centres in Petey, Miller and Horvat. Now? It’s in shambles. How in the fuck do you trade two top 2 line centres in Horvat and Miller and the forwards you get in return for those two are forwards named Beauvillier, Raty, O’Connor and Chytil? One is gone (Beauvillier) and another has a head like Ferland (Chytil). So, Raty and O’Connor is what we replace those two with. Fuckin’ hell. Now we are trying to trade the last centre of those three, the very one we should’ve traded instead of the other two. This is worse than the back to back Schneider and Luongo trades. From a position of strength to a position of shit, overnight!

At this point the best I’m hoping for is we don’t have to retain any of his contract. But we definitely will be receiving a player with a hefty contract in return. I don’t think we are getting anything spectacular in return. As Friedman says, they know what the offers are, meaning - not very good.

They are in a pickle, they need to avoid the NMC that kicks in in July like it’s the plague. Pettersson won’t do us any favours if he has control of his destination, he’s a fucking douche bag.

I have no issues with the return from the Miller trade to the Rangers and subsiquent deal with the Penguins, and it is interesting that the UFA and RFA they got in the Penguins deal both signed new contracts in Vancouver in spite of the state you think the organization is in...

So we have gone from a position of strength at the centre position to a position of strength on the blueline in large part because Alvin dealt Horvat which led to the aquisition of Hronek and Miller which led to the aquisition of Pettersson not to mention Mancini .......

Yep Sabres make a lot of sense - Petey is good buddies with Dahlin and Buffalo is not a place stars want to go, so getting a guy signed long-term is attractive. They also have lots of youngish assets that the Canucks would like to get their hands on. Also remember that Alex Tuch’s wife is from Vancouver so perhaps the family may be interested in getting back out here - as a guy who spent time in Buffalo when I lived out east and now live in North Van about 10 minutes from where my wife grew up I know that wives can dictate where a family lives. Tuch has 1 year left on his deal so a decision needs to be made on him this summer given Buffalo is not exactly a contender.

One thing to note on the Petey speculation, I was told they were trying to trade him but that doesn’t mean they will be successful. I’m guessing they have a high price but hopefully somebody can meet it.

One thing to note on the Petey speculation, I was told they were trying to trade him but that doesn’t mean they will be successful. I’m guessing they have a high price but hopefully somebody can meet it.

If the Sedin’s saying he is uncoachable is more than just a rumour, you move him regardless of the return. Uncoachable players are team cancers. You get out from under that contract because keeping him sends the message to players that individual trumps team…..$11.6M is expensive postage.

I can’t see us ever developing young talent here with an uncoachable guy raking in that much cheddar.

I agree that Buffalo makes a lot of sense as a trade partner, it also gives the Baldies a chance to "FU" to F Petey for his poor attitude.

Power coming back in a trade does not scare me that much, Chef I did read the link so thanks for that. Bryam does due to his concussion history, I would stay away from a guy like that. Although I am also not sure I would be trying to bring back a D is this kind of trade. I would rather try to bring back other assets that would allow the Canucks to get Necas or Norris from their specific teams.

Ironically Buffalo could also be in the market for a goalie too.

Something like:

F Petey, Demko, Hogs for Tuch, Petereka, Buffalo 1st round pick (9 OA), Power (cap reasons) +++++.

Trade some of the assets for Necas and/or Norris. Chytil could come into play here to help out a cap crunch team, I am assuming his contract is insured.

Revised my proposal. Deleted Powers from that trade proposal as Canucks don't really need D and cap should be okay this way.
