Ferland, love him, he's like a Gino Odjick and Matt Cooke rolled up into one,
but concussions fucked him up, says he's good, playing 100%, gets into a fight, and he's out. That's what scares me, the unknown of when he gets hurt.
That's why I believe for his own sake, he needs to go on LTIR and retire. His family and the Canucks should do an intervention and help him come to terms with it. Even find him a role in the organization such as WHL scout or pro scout.

I invaded, well actually travelled, to Japan starting in the 90's, I did a lot to restore relations between Canada and Japan.

Lol can confirm, you got that right. Doc does too, I have the battle scars to prove it and earned every single one them.
And there are reminders every day like when catching Nate Schmidt's media conference the phone rings and he mocks his folks with a "that's my parents LANDLINE" and I'm like "f'ing kids....I have a landline".

Frank, I was worried I was in that picture too and didn't remember. Then again I can't recall invading an island to go into battle with no pants and armed with a grass hockey stick. At least I wouldn't admit to it, even if there was photographic evidence. Having said that, Doc must be our vintage as well, considering his posts about the east end social club he hung out with.

I seem to recall the three of us were in Korea together, you, Doc and I. My memory of it is kind of a blur now.
However I'm certain that's where I picked of my knowledge of the deadly Oriental arts.
You guys are killing me here lol...

I like to tell the young folk of today how every family I knew when I was a kid had one phone.
It was black and it was bolted to the kitchen wall.

He's already skating, practicing and saying he's feeling great. No symptoms and is looking forward to the next season. Unless he has a set-back,
we can expect HIM back. Again.
Well, he is only 28 tears old so from that perspective, I understand his reluctance to give in to a long term
interregnum. Hard to imagine he'll be
the player we thought we were getting though.
I love how Mick keeps smashing his own records of punctuation/grammar/spelling mistakes
.... and then every once in a while throws in a word like "interregnum".
(in a way which displays he clearly doesn't know the meaning of the word)
LMAO, hello, you're not fooling anyone Micky!
That thesaurus is doing you more harm than good buddy!

Rotary dialed phones at that. Black and white UHF/VHF TVs with rotary channel selectors. Cable TV was channels 2-12. No remote channel selectors. If you lived outside the lower mainland you used rabbit ears or a roof antennae that looked like a drying rack for reception and you were lucky if you received more than one channel (CBC). Transister radios on the AM dial only. During the late '60s early '70s we could get CKLG and CFUN, the two Vancouver AM rock 'n' roll stations ever so slightly in the late evenings in the cold winter months north in Terrace. Walked a mile in the snow to school but at least it wasn't uphill both ways.

Canadiens sign forward Brendan Gallagher to a six-year contract extension
The deal, which runs until 2026-27, has an average annual value of $6.5 million..
No restraint there...wow!
https://www.nhl.com/canadiens/news/cana ... -319456122
The Gallagher contract includes a modified no-trade and a full no-move clause throughout the deal.

No PVRs, DVDs, or even VCRs.
The good part was EVERYONE saw the latest episode of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Gunsmoke at the same time.
Which made for great conversations the next day.

Yep. Talking about last night's episode of your favorite sitcom or crime drama was always fun the next day at school. I always enjoyed bowling my fellow classmates over onto the ground to demonstrate the way Frank Cannon took down the bad guy.
And we had a beige rotary phone, not a black one, believe it or not. And it sat on the counter, wasn't wall mounted. No cable.

And who here remembers All Star Wrestling. Ron Morier was the announcer and it was sponsored by Fred Asher's Menswear with their downtown location at the corner of Main and Hastings. They had some great performers over the years with the likes of Bulldog Brown, Dutch Savage, Dean Higuchi, Haystack Calhoun, Sweet Daddy Siki and of course Canada's Greatest Athlete our own Gene Kiniski.
