Wow. That's two decent players they'll have to move out.
Imagine if we had cap space
It looks like with the condo market being not so good and everything Mr Aquilini has squashed buyouts this season so Cool Hand Jim wasn't able to clear the space he needed to carry out this off season's plan.

It's a bad look for ol' Jimbo, but this is why Mr Aquilini pays him the big bucks. It's a relationship that plays out a little like the Skip The Dishes commercial with the American movie star and his Canadian servant Brandon.

Has been a great player however that there is what I'd call a reckless contract. Gonna hurt later. Ah, bu who cares about later.. :wow:

People keep focusing on Schmidt there but Martinez might be the affordable one in our present condition.

And a mambo enthusiast too, no doubt ;)

*check that - $4 million is likely too rich for our blood

Hes still got game. Van tried to key on him on the forecheck but hes pretty cool under pressure. I'd gamble on AM and his mambo jambo...

Is there term remaining at 4 Megs?

So does this put a cap on what Hughes can expect next season since the cap isn’t going up next year?

Power move by Vegas but they might want to make those moves quick versus having rumours swirling around involving multiple players. Can't be good for a contending team's morale.

Who's the better deal?

A 30 year old Pietrangelo for 7 years @ $8.8?
A 29 year old OEL for 7 years @ $8.25?

Toffoli to habs...4 yrs missed the dollars

The Canadiens have agreed to terms with forward Tyler Toffoli on a four-year contract (until 2023-24). The deal has an average annual value of $4.25 million.

El Mambo only had one year left at $4 mil to answer your question.

I was imagining a scenario where he came in blasting drinking port, a la The Cisco Kid

Yeahn, buyouts are no good because the cap-hits would carry over to the next season(s).

Petey and Hughes big bucks seasons.

Jimmy will add the necessary sweeteners to move contracts out IF he has to.

But he probably won't have to, this year at least.

If the doctors can get Ferland on LTIR for the season I think we should be in pretty good shape.
