Do you realize we have had outstanding goaltending starting with Luongo, Schnieder, Markstrom and then Demko. It is at an end and if the kid is as good as they say we are what like 4-5 years before seeing that.
What kid? Sorry HW, not tracking here, but I'm curious if there is someone in the pipeline I don't know about.
I think she's talking about Medvedev. The kid does look promising.
My new core would be Hughes and Pettersson. Maybe Boeser because I doubt he waives. The upcoming young kids I'd keep. But everyone else is expendable. They are not core players and they clearly cannot support the core. Wholesale changes are needed. Try to get 1-2 more 1st round picks in 2026 draft. Add some 2nds. Try to get good prospects. Yes a full rebuild but around Hughes and Pettersson as the leaders.
I'm keeping (provided they are willing to go through the rebuild process) Hughes, Hronek, and Boeser.
Hughes, for obvious reasons.
Hronek because he's a damned good RHD and it would be stupid to annihilate the roster around Hughes.....you have to keep some talent.
Boeser because he wants to be here. You need that on a team that is rebuilding.
Everyone else can go. The last "expendable" I would want to part with though is Garland, I like his compete, he's an engine that never says quit and rebuilding teams need that.....it helps that him and Hughes are close.
Depends on if Hughes signs. We're stuck with Pettersson and Boeser; between their cap hits and movement controls they will be impossible to move. Besides, we need someone to eat top-6 minutes instead of watching the highly-drafted youngsters get their heads caved-in. Demko... you may as well keep him for the rest of the contract unless some team wants him on their IR in the hopes he can come back in time to steal a game or two in Spring.
The team will need culture-carriers. None of the aforementioned - outside of Hughes - really qualify in that regard. Keeping folks like Garland and Hronek - not all but you need a few unless you want to see a pre-McDavid Oilers situation. Remember that the more vets your chuck, the longer the rebuild. Blueliners like Myers and MP3 will age-out in time for Willander, D-Petey and maybe Mancini to take their place, so unless there's a market for the older blueliners, just keep them and have them mentor the youngsters still.
If management trades Hughes, then a scorched-earth long rebuild appears in the cards.

There is no denying that when officially out of the playoff picture the Canucks will go 15-2-3 the last 20 games of the season to end up picking 11th overall. It’s so Canuck.
You forgot, trade Hughes before that run begins.
But if we do trade him the team won’t get much based upon the media and RD.

I suggest following up on what Friedman offered on the situation, that’s all I’m doing, following up on his assumption. Is that bad or something?
Should we start a bingo room where we all drink tea and eat crumpets together?
lol, not at all but 20+ posts a day and all negative is a bit much. We are all Canuck fans here and we see what is happening now and what has happened in the past.
Referencing media whose job is very difficult as they try to stay current is ok but not to be the only thing.

Again, just discussing (expanding on) Friedman’s assumption. Should we all just be rejoicing, holding hands, skipping? Happy talk only? It’s not negativity, it’s discussing. Not sure if you are aware, we are dead last in the league a third of the way at through the season, is this the environment Hughes wants to hang his hat on? That’s what’s being discussed. We want the rebuild, the negativity is based on management not wanting the rebuild. Dude, we are dead last, ffs, lol

Draft picks by each person according to ChatGPT:
Jim Rutherford — Hartford Whalers / Carolina Hurricanes (GM 1994–2014)
...
Dale Tallon — Chicago Blackhawks (GM 2005–2009)
Yikes - really goes to show even in the 1st rd, how many misses/low end players get drafted outside of the top 3. Other than Lundell, Matheson, and perhaps Knight - Tallon's draft record isn't confidence building. And none of those players are ones you'd build a team around.
Yeah. Barkov, Ekblad, and Huberdeau, are hot garbage.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

That’s what a guy gets for skimming…..derp.

Besides, Huberdeau IS hot garbage.
Problem is, Petey seems to be on the same trajectory.
Tallon’s presence may explain the Owen Tippett rumours. He drafted him. It’s always reassuring having those in charge only being interested in players they know. That is what I like to refer to as lazy as fuck pro scouting.
Owen Tippett is basically another version of DeBrusk, streaky and has his warts, it’s why his teams are ok with trading him. But we those types

Debrusk - 0 points in last 5 games.
Boser - 1G and 1A in last 5 games.
These 2 really need to pick it up.
Van must be appealing to chill dudes like those 2. Long summers off every year with lots to do, one of the top cannabis destinations in the world, good food and shit... What a place to be loaded and free from work for months on end
