You don’t like Brady Tkachuk ? No idea how or why you can’t be objective about a guy who isn’t drafted yet playing on your favourite junior team. He’s been one of their best players. I could care less if the team is loaded with winger prospects. Most of them will never have an impact in the league. Pick the best player available on the board like smart managers do. And what the hell is wrong with trading a forward prospect for a d prospect ?

theman wrote: Sat Dec 30, 2017 8:48 am Right now I would not part with any prospect for a D one. Let's hope we can trade a vet or two (gudbranson/edler/vanek) and also get lucky at the draft.
I don’t know about that. If you could somehow get a guy like Foote or Fabro I’d probably put any prospect not named Petersson on the table.
Fair enough, that team Canada forward I would not put on the table either though. I could part with one of Lind, Lockwood though in the right situation. Also we keep our first obviously. What picks do we have going into the 2018 draft?

Don't think we can get much help via trade. Maybe Tanev but that would be a sideways move. Would not like to see a forward prospect dealt for a D prospect. Even I would be choked with the Genius. Through the draft but some here prefer having a plethora of wingers
When drafting 18 year olds, always draft best player available. Sort out the rest later, look at Nashville for example. Canucks have a couple of times have gone away from that and it has been a disaster.

I wouldn't trade centre Gaudette, especially if Pettersen stays a winger. We
lack centres in the system. Obviously a winger would be dealt namely a right winger since we have a plethora of right wingers. But the GM best be damn sure he don't fuck that up. Foots in Tampa, Fabbro in Nashville, Lindgren in Boston, Myers in Philly, Fleury in Carolina. All those teams are stacked on Defence.

Yep totally agree. By all means pick a D man if he is bpa but if they pick a runt like Hughes and I have to watch Tkachuk play for Edmonton , I’ll need a new tv on draft day. The kid is the real deal and to me I think he he will better than his brother. He’s already bigger, stronger and faster.

You don’t think he’s a good player ? Are you capable of honestly assessing this player ?

I dont mind Brady either but I hope a few our 100's of wingers can play defence or centre if we draft him. At least he's a left winger

Currently as picks go, we have all our picks plus an extra 4th from Pittsburgh.

Right now I hope we land 1st overall and pick Dahlin but other than that it will be a winger as this seems to be a weak draft for centers. I hope Pettersson can keep developing as a C but not concerned if he ends up as a winger. Tkachuk did impress yesterday so I would be fine with that selection, would be hesitant to pick a Russian though as we seem to be cursed with them.

It's a winger and defence draft

I don't believe we are a top 5 lottery team but I've said that before. The top 5 seems to be Dahlin, Boqvist, Zadina, Svechnikov and Tkachuk, all wingers and defence. Seemingly the drop off is after 5. I think we will be picking between 5 and 12 somewhere. In that range it's a toss up between wingers and defence. Hard to judge best player available.

You know RD, if the Genius drafts him then he will be a generational talent. Then like a good shit he will change history and always has like the guy until you post links back to this thread.

I’m all in favour of moving Baertschi but I’m not sure what kind of D man he would return. Baertschi and Gudbranson for Fabbro and a cap dump. Not sure Nashville touches that. They just gave up a quality young d man in Samuel Girard. The Bolts have no use for either Baertschi or Gudbranson. Liljegren might be a target if the Canucks deal Tanev the the leaves but that would mangle the current Canucks defence by trading their best d man
