The officer walked in front of the SUV twice while it was running, putting himself in harm's way. As I said earlier in this thread, the courts generally don't allow a claim of self-defense if the officer put themselves in that position.

The officer was filming with his cell phone and had his gun drawn at the same time. That cannot be SOP, can it?

The officers rapidly approached the vehicle and tried to open the door while it was running. Shouldn't they have drawn their guns and ordered her to turn off and exit the vehicle if they were going to apprehend her?

Why were they trying to apprehend her in the first place? ICE don't have the same powers as police. They can only act where they have reasonable suspicion that someone is an undocumented immigrant. She was as white as Minnesota snow

The officer who shot her left the scene. He should have been isolated in a vehicle until an investigative unit arrived to collect evidence and take statements.

After she was shot and her vehicle crashed, ICE prevented a doctor from seeing her, saying they had their own EMT (which arrived 15 minutes later). We still don't know where she was shot, so possibly she was bleeding out and could have been saved.

The EMT team when they arrived just took the body away "like a sack of potatoes", not even on a stretcher. When I heard this, it just sounded like the start of a cover-up. Everybody in the administration is already absolving the officer of all blame. If there's not going to be any accountability, it's just going to embolden ICE to act above the law. Another step towards a police state.

Happy to be corrected on any of these things (where the fuck is UW?) but things are trending in the wrong direction in an election year.

I liken this woman to the kid playing with a toy gun in the window when the police come knocking. She didn't have a clue that blocking a road in the midst of a federal law enforcement action endangered the officer's lives. She also believed she could just drive off when confronted with arrest. What part of "GET OUT OF THE FUCKING CAR" did she not understand? An officer with one hand on the door handle and another reaching inside her car was not clear enough for her? If guns were drawn sooner would her recklessness have been more clear to her?

She honestly believed she was immune. She was not aware that blocking the rode in a middle of an police enforcement action created an ambush opportunity. Reports are she'd spent the day doing the same and had earlier evaded police when they tried to apprehend her.

Recall protestors of the past had arrest as their goal. Drop to the ground and go deadman limp. These days it is blockade and either riot and loot or run away back to the cul-de-sac in the 'burds.

Would having regular Minneapolis Police working with ICE to interact with the public allowing ICE to deal with their suspect been beneficial? Unfortunately, City Sanctuary Laws passed by the City prevent that. They also prevent the City from sharing information on illegal immigrants with the Federal government. If an illegal immigrant is arrested for robbery, assault, whatever, the fact he is an illegal immigrant can not be shared with the Federal Authorities.

Madness.

This would appear to affirm my characterization of your beliefs about reasonable expectations for police and ordinary citizen behaviours. And you can't be wrong about the kind of society in which you want to live -- the heart wants what it wants.

But for myself, I would rather live in Per's Sweden than Topper's Minnesota. And I will advocate and vote for laws that promote the former over the latter.

This individual appears to have engaged in actions that real police officers are trained not to do.
