Re: W-GDT: Canucks host avs - Feb 4 - 7pm - Snet
Last night we saw two hot shots from the 2017, Necas and Pettersson. One who dazzled (Necas) and one who didn’t (Pettersson). Petey played a solid game but what in the hell has happened to the Alien’s swagger, ffs? In fact, the other guy - Chytil, from the 2017 class shows more swagger with the puck than Petey. It’s mind blowing. We really need the Alien to stop scooting the cosmos and revisit earth again, if we are to go anywhere.

So, the first time I dislocated my knee I was 28. I got away with my awkward skating stance for that long. The second time, I knew what it felt like to have that happen so I just popped it back in myself.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 6:24 am Last night we saw two hot shots from the 2017, Necas and Pettersson. You gotta be careful out there, especially because this winter's been miserably dry. Take glucosamine, eat fish, exercise the knee valve as much as possible.

“A doctor to whom I occasionally talk suggests that I have made an inadequate adjustment to aging.
Wrong, I want to say.
In fact I have made no adjustment whatsoever to aging.
In fact I had lived my entire life to date without seriously believing that I would age.” - Joan Didion

A few comments;
Fun game, funner win, funnest shutout
We have endured far too much ferraro. The kid between periods can be fast forwarded out on the VHS, the old man rehashing PBP commentary instead of adding commentary is a fucking torture no one should have to hear.
Where is $11.6M Scooter? The elite turdline centre.
Better game from Demko and hints more at form from previous years. I mentioned he was slouching in net, looking like Lankenin, last night he was more upright and square to the shooter and square to the puck as he tracked it across the ice. Still not as upright as before, but more than he was two weeks ago.
Steady sheltered fourth game by D Pete with some glaring warts that were covered up by glowing commentary and a willingness to take the body and finish checks. The pasting on the half boards that mouthman ray repeatedly jerked over, missed that the Av forward had blown past D Pete on the turn (has this been mentioned before) and was only caught because he button hooked at the half boards to wait for team mates. Were the Av's on a change? Another play he went for the Juuls hit (common around the league to disrupt the entry, but Juuls hits harder than most with it) to slow the rush just outside the blueline, only got a piece of the guy, puck went deep leaving Hroneck as the only D back, D Pete, instead of recovering to his D position, stayed high at the point leaving a forward to cover for him down low. Mouthman ray "someone missed a check there and was caught out of position, then chaos ensued."
I'm sure Tage Thompson approves of D Pete. That was good to see and is something D Pete mentioned in an interview a few days ago.
Watch the play, don't listen to the clowns. They will hype a kid and cover up the warts if they like him and want to make him a favourite. We've all seen it in the past. The surprising thing with them doing it with D Pete is that he is over 5'6".
Speed of the new forwards highlights the failures of the off season. I mentioned months ago that the management mantra of bigger and faster was not adhered to in the off season.
When Makar, McKinnon and Necas get rolling, holy shit is it impressive to watch.
Canucks really missing the offensive zone blue line skating of Hughes and the threat he presents.
Where the fuck was Scooter's shot during the five on three? One timers by Hronek or bad passes to Brock for a delayed shot aren't going to cut it. Blast away. If a defender is in the way, hurt them with it.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

I don't need commentators to tell me whether someone is playing good or bad. The kid is doing a lot more good things than bad. He had a couple bad pinches but there's a lot to work with. Send him and Mancini to Abby on Sunday for two weeks and play the hell out of them. Re-assess then.
Chytil looks like he can man the 2 hole adequately. The number 1 guy is still MIA. They need him to start making more of an impact than 10-15 games a season. Hammer the Shsrks tomorrow and beat the Quiffs on Saturday. Get the place buzzing before the tourney.

I doubt any of us do, but there's a lot bias each night from Shorty. "Couldn't reach that pass" (didn't make an effort) - etc - he's does that for Boeser on almost every play.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 8:09 am I don't need commentators to tell me whether someone is playing good or bad.

He tends to blame the recipient of the pass, and not the passer. Except when we throw it into our own slot, Ala chaos Giraffe. Then he blames the passer. But we make a lot of bad passes tooCornuck wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:56 amI doubt any of us do, but there's a lot bias each night from Shorty.
