Micky wrote: Thu Oct 22, 2020 3:07 pm That contract structure helps the owner out a bit too for a year or so.

What’s this got to do with the owner?? He pays the same in the end.
And lets hope there's fans in the seats and everything is looking way better by the second year of that contract.
Once again, if there is no fans in 2 years (highly unlikely), but if there isn’t, the owner still pays the same.

Fuck, if your insisting on complicating it, if there is no fans in seats in 2 years, most professional teams in most sports will probably be done as most of the gate driven leagues will be bankrupt.

If fans = Jake gets paid the same.
No fans = league is bust and Jake gets paid the same.

What point were you trying to make, because there isn’t one in the comment you made.

Madcombinepilot wrote: Thu Oct 22, 2020 3:36 pm Right. Not arguing today. I am saying if he has a good year, followed by a bad year, and a guy like rooster is flat every year, who (if they are looking for. A middle 6, 3 million dollar guy) do you take?
Rooster had a tough season last year and will be 31 next month

... with just 1 year left on the contract at X-draft time, then UFA.

I'd take Jake all day if it was a choice between the two.

But hey, we will have a spot for protecting Shotgun no problem, so why worry about it?

Much like last expansion draft I don’t see Vancouver losing a good skater.

No wonder you can't handle a rebuild!

Maybe Green was right in determining they weren't ready last year.

Maybe Green will be right in determining they are ready next training camp.

Have I ever mentioned you don't have the patience for a rebuild?

Or here's your power-move - trade Jake to Seattle in exchange for selecting Loui
Yeah, I have been thinking of those possibilities.

As I say, GMs will be lining up to give away assets to make this kind of trade.

Covid was probably a blessing in disguise for the fucking seagulls...

The only one in a diaper is yourself. You’re in your late 60s for fuck sakes, you leak when you burp and sneeze. Probably spit up a nice tonsil stone too.

Stecher was the least of the teams problems. Ferland, Sutter, Beagle, Louise, Roussel and Benn are all far more expensive and far more useless.

I was calling for a rebuild after the San Jose series in 2013. I have more patience than most. Been a fan since 75. Not as long as yourself who listened to the WHL team in the 50s after the Jack Parr show, but still a long time fan who’s family had seasons tickets for a few years.

None of the prospect scrubs were remotely close to making the team. I guess we can hope two or three of them magically become NHLers all of a sudden. Right now they have 4 NHL d man and Jordie Benn. You need to be 8-9 deep. An injury to a top 4 guy would be crippling

Tciso wrote: Thu Oct 22, 2020 12:36 pm This is really a shit or get off the pot contract. RFA with a $3.4 mil cap hit means a big qualifying offer, , or he goes unqualified. But, he is very affordable this year. And, the best part is we can fit him into the cap with a bit of monkeying around - without- having to dump a contract and assets.

Benning is likely not done, but if he is, the team is in fair shape, and we know the rookies will get a pile of games in. With such a messed up potential year coming up, I am hoping JB stands pat, and plays the pss out of some rookies. He can now wait until things go back to normal, instead of being a seller.

That qualifying offer is what makes him unattractive to expansion. Why spend that kind of money on a QO (if Jake doesn’t perform to contract) when you can get an ‘exactly what you pay for’ in a guy like Rooster instead?
Virtanen's QO will be just $3M, if he improves at all he'll be worth it.

I didn't know they adjusted the QO rules. Glad to hear it, and it makes Jake's contract a bit better.
