Not that it particularly contradicts Blob's comment, but the Bruins did miss the playoffs seven times and had several early playoff exits in the last 25 years.

They also won a cup and went to two finals. They have a healthy organization and a good pipeline of players coming through consistently.

Which team hasn't done that in a 25 year period?

Yeah, that's what I was beginning to wonder. As Blob said, clearly two finals and a Cup are significant, but what is the baseline for a good franchise? Are even the best franchises out of the playoffs 30% of the time?

Added to the Canucks fans meltdowns over losing a player:
Dahlen - McCann - Shinkaruk - Santorelli - Forsling - Corrado - Lack.
MS on hf is the main guy of misery of losing these guys lol.

In any case wow a lot of surprising players on waivers today.
Ho-Sang, Hickey, Lazar, Goldy, Bart, Petan, DeSmith, Schenn, Sprong.

As much as we want to point fingers at the player the team has to take some accountability as well. The lack of planning or proper development can derail any promising kid. I have always said, the Owner/GM/Coach/AHL Coach all have to be on the same page. This is a continuous program to move players into a position to fill gaps in 2 - 4 year time frame, this brings in young and cheap labour at the right time.
Of course even the best plan does not mean a player will develop appropriately which comes down to some intense pre screening of any player chosen in the first round.
Boston had too many 1st round picks in that 1 year, no way could any team be able to develop and provide opportunities for 3 guys picked lower than 20th overall. They should of move a pick for the following year or a prospect.

Those can't-handle-a-rebuild-so-panic-and-crucify-the-GM folk should feel thoroughly embarrassed by now.
Only false pride and stupidity would keep them from begging the forgiveness of Canuckdom at this point IMO.

Reefles thinks there's such a thing as too many picks in a deep draft. Cuz, like, you'll have too many good players and not know what to do with em all.

Not sure I’d put McCann in with those other players. I’d take him back to play on this team’s top 9.
It’s basically garbage for garbage transactions. This is why I chuckle when posters are rubbing one out with their Carson Focht hockey card and listing the great play of every single prospect in the organization on a regular basis. You’re lucky to bat .250 with prospects as NHL Players period. Then cut that number in half twice and those are your impact guys.
