I think Trump is an out of control cheezy eating donkey who loves being in front of a microphone and creating all the chaos that he has. He knows with his money that anything he does will not impact his life or his family so he doesn't give a shit.
But I will give him credit for the following:
1 - Canada finally dealing with drugs going back and forth over the border, actually just dealing with border issues with illegal immigrants as well and other things
2 - forcing Canadian government to actually and finally spend money on the military
3 - breaking down the provincial barriers, creating more opportunity for companies and people to work in other provinces and have their credentials accepted without further work to be done
4 - Canadians supporting Canadian companies, imagine that. It does not always cost that much more to buy local.
Still a lot work to be done on the above topics but it is moving forward.

But I did list the good stuff he has done.
I also agree that all government agencies (here in Canada as well) is bloated and out of control. I just wouldn't go the way he went in reducing head counts but you can probably balance the budget in Canada with a more effective government ministries and agencies.

2 - yes to some extent, Canada has committed to expanding additional ships and the air force with the F-35. I believe all the chatter about looking at alternate planes is just rhetoric from Carney to look good and get elected. It would be very costly and difficult for Canada to carry 2 different planes.
3 - partially - Ontario has opened their borders and signed deals with NS/NB, this will be the first. Do not know what is BC response but Eby has said he wants to get it done. I believe it is wrapped up in a bill they want to have voted on but it is too broad and gives them too much power so it hasn't been approved yet. Typical of how politicians fucks it all up by being a politician instead of just getting it done. I believe it will be done by years end.

Current fiscal year deficit is around $40B and non-military wages/salaries is $50B, so yeah, reducing headcount would not impact the deficit too much. It would have to be primarily spending cuts, but then if you want to spend more (non-capital expense) on the military, eve more cuts are needed.

Lets just say that Canadian's are easily scared and Ontario has voters that cannot see the big picture and just prefer to bury their heads in the sand. Again to me it is all about fiscal responsibility and I have not seen that from the Liberals the entire time they have been in charge but the conservatives have been painted with the anti-everything brush and people are worried about what they will do.
