Bob McKenzie

Dustin Byfuglien, currently on personal leave from WPG, is believed to be using the time to ponder his NHL future. I’m not saying Byfuglien is retiring; I’m not saying he’s coming back to play. Only that he’s contemplating his options and there’s no timetable for a decision.

Neither the Jets nor Byfuglien’s agent Ben Hankinson responded to a request for comment.
..............................................................LOL

. If he does retire, I'll actually miss the big dude.

He probably crushed too many Budweiser again over summer, and is too embarrassed about failing physical... again.

Chabot signs an eight year extension in Ottawa

8 million per cap hit.

Great deal for Ottawa.

They’d be idiots to trade that kid. Other than Rasmus Dahlin I cant think of a young D man I’d rather build a team around.

Yeah Melnyk is an idiot. Kinda funny how he backloaded the contract a bit. Still if they did trade him he will be on a beauty of a contract. He’s locked in for nine more years. Basically his entire prime.

13. Teams trying to move bodies include Carolina and Vancouver. Both are tight to the cap and roster limits. The Canucks have made four or five players available, but I’m not sure Jake Virtanen is one of them. Head coach Travis Green was frustrated with Nikolay Goldobin last season, but GM Jim Benning opted for a longer view. Could be the same here. Calgary may have to manoeuvre something once Matthew Tkachuk is signed.
