Not sure about having Karly94, DOC18 & Buium in the rotation, still rather young and inexperienced.
I would have seriously considered having Gally7, Oleksiak or Schenner2 in the rotation, but I guess they are new to the team and may not be with team very long. JD74 would be a deserving choice as well, but maybe they don't expect that he'll be around much longer as well.
But, looks like they grooming Buium24 to be the next C.
Sounds like buium id grooming himself to be next C.
Kid is stepping up, if the stories are to be believed.
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.
You can only draw so many conclusions from two games against Edmonton, but would draw folks’ attention to one fact: Elias Pettersson #40 has 4 pts in two games and is even in plus-minus.
I am still not yet ready to stop calling him the Dickless Swede, but he’s proving useful. We’ll see where this goes.

Not enough Rossi talk.
Dude gets limited cred.
He is legit.
3 goals and 4 points and that pass to EP40 for the one timer was on task.
Buium
Rossi
Ohgren
Novotny
We should be thanking Hughes.
Guerin is going to be extremely challenged to get a haul like that if he can’t sign Hughes.
Say what you will about the previous regime, but they probably got the best possible return for Hughes. In fact, him having a Norris under his belt when he told management he wouldn’t re-sign was a bonus. Not sure they would have got the same haul before Hughes staked his claim as the premier blueliner in the league.
Silver linings in the rear mirror of the mushroom cloud behind us, perhaps, but it’s reason for hope.

Yah, I noticed Rossi likes looking for EP40 for that 1-T on the half wall like Millzy did in the good old days.
When we first made that trade, I thought Rossi was basically a throw in cuz of his size. But, he proving to be a legit NHL playmaking centre. I'm not sure u can win a Cup with him, but for a rebuilding team, he's a valuable guy to have around.
Rossi is legit. No coincidence the PP has been on fire since his acquisition. Helps to have Hronek not trying to be the do-it-all hero like the previous QB, and having Rossi essentially replacing what Miller provided in a different way, is making quite the difference. We badly needed another forward with vision and puck poise since Miller's departure and Rossi is just that.
Hope he keeps proving legit and how long we keep him is another story. Not suggesting a trade anytime soon. But awesome to have that option in our back pocket for future consideration.

Agreed.

While the Sedin era proved it is no substitute, a strong power-play is a good supplement to a physical deterrent.
Most teams should see the Canucks on their schedule and think they can rest a couple of starters and bank the two points. If that starts getting away from them, they might be directed to settle down and play hockey.

I think UWSaint is right: at this point, there is no core; there are only assets. Best for everyone if Rossi can make himself an extremely valuable asset.
But I wouldn't be surprised if he were still around when the Canucks are relevant again. It's hard for teams to get enough centre depth, he has only just turned 25, and the things he brings to the game tend to age well.
Yeah, if he was 22 he'd be a core piece we can check off the rebuild list. But his age is perfect for flexibility sake. Like you said, he's not too old to keep around and possibly be a centrepiece for when they become competitive again. Or an excellent break glass option if the rebuild doesn't appear to be going as hoped in 2/3 years and requires a lot more time. A productive 27/28 yo center will still fetch you a ton.
That said, if someone offers a king's ransom in March I'm taking it. My hunch says a desperate team will, so we can't fall too much in love players like this if a godfather offer comes along. It'd have to be one hell of a haul though to part with him so soon.
Having Rossi on a wing with Pettersson at practice is an interesting story. Now they want to try to get Raty in the lineup but they like the job Cotter is doing down the middle.
Once Chytle is back they will have a better idea f who they want at centre and who shifts to wing.
Wonder if Rossi will play wing during one of these weekend games.
.....so as a potential byproduct of benching DeBrusk we take a skilled & capabale #2 centre and put him on the wing leaving EP Cotter Raty Sasson down the gut?
ya me either. I thought Cotter was brought in as a winger? I thought Raty earned another shot at centring the 3rd or 4th line. I thought Sasson looked good on wing. But Manny knows best.
And the benching of Debrusk will only happen if he needs to rest from his injury. So any changes one would assume are temporary.

Yeah...not a big fan.
Pettersson should move to wing after the draws and give the middle over to MR
