This is the time for spin, not for honesty. <facepalm>

They chose and the fans get Johnson'd in the backside again.

I wonder if this was really the Sedins and not FA already yanking their chains and have them repeat his talking points?

A few things that I noted:

Ownership must have said rebuild or full rebuild 10 times before he introduced the new crew. This is huge IMHO.

All three said that ownership presented them with plan that they agreed with and they have full autonomy. Yes I know we have heard that before. Henrik went as far as to say that if the plan was not something they could get behind they would have turned down the job.

Twins said that they had a choice between Gold and RJ. Puts to rest the rumour that Gold was low balled on an offer and turned it down. Twins were clear, it was their choice and they picked RJ.

All three talked about culture being the first thing they will address. RJ stressed that for the first while that is more important than wins/losses. They all talked about the culture improving the last 15 games or so. Clearly moving our JT did not in and of itself fix the locker room issues. Trading Quinn and the TDD seemed to be the fix. So whatever was going on involved more than just JT/Pettersson. Henrik, or was it Daniel, said that you need leaders who know how to lead. RJ said you need players that put teammates first. Read into it what you will.

As to Foote, today is only day one so still being assessed.

As to the Alien, JR said he wants to talk to him and give him a clean slate but that it all starts with preparation. Twins echoed this. How he shows up to camp in Sept will tell them what they need to know. In fact he said the same applies to all the players, show up fully committed and if a player wants to be moved out or if the Canucks want to move someone out, the best and easiest way to do that is if they play up to their potential.

RJ was asked if they will weaponize the cap. He said where they can but it is no longer a stagnant cap which means more players will be signed up which means fewer opportunities to weaponize but more space to trade players as more teams will be looking to add. Sounds like trading vets is in the plan but not on a rushed basis.

Anyway, more of the same but yet a breath of fresh air. I sensed they know what went wrong and I doubt they will allow the same shit to happen.

And I think I can tell the twins apart now. Henrik looks older. Daniel still has a small bit of a baby face.
The only HW the Canucks need

Community involvement is coming back, Rutherford really dropped the ball there.

He was out of touch. Over the hill.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

That did not go unnoticed by me either.

I don't put a ton of stock in this. Everyone will say that. The only reason I have for a glimmer of hope here is that Hank and Dank have been with this organization for the entire tenure of AIG's ownership and they know what they are walking into. They also, reportedly, have a good relationship with Trevor, so I would think they would have talked with him.
Twins said that they had a choice between Gold and RJ. Puts to rest the rumour that Gold was low balled on an offer and turned it down. Twins were clear, it was their choice and they picked RJ.
The Sedin's don't want anything to do with someone from Boston. Daniel probably had visions of standing in the office getting speed-bagged by Gold.

Interesting.

This is just more of the same. No clue why he needs to be told he has a clean slate.....that alone tells me that everyone recognizes that he shit all over his own slate for the first 8 years of time in the organization. I hope that RJ's conversation will also include a straight up ask: "Do you want a fresh start elsewhere?" If he says yes, then tell him to earn it with preparation, and he can boost his value and look to be traded 2 months into the season.
And I think I can tell the twins apart now. Henrik looks older. Daniel still has a small bit of a baby face.
Hank has the rounder melon, I've always thought he had more of a baby face.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

I think the Sedins and Murph are tight. There has been little to no discussion about community involvement over the past few years, yet Murph lobbed them the question about it completely out of the blue.

Murph is in-house media for all intents and purposes; an arm of their PR department, but at arm's-length. This is no surprise.

If this tells me anything, it's that the Twins understand that the team has drawn from the well of fan goodwill the last couple of years, they realize that they won't pay it back with wins or stars, so they need to make it up with fan- and community-engagement. Good move, IMO.

Yeah, one can read a fair bit into that. Guess Hughes didn't end up being the leader some had hoped - though they were likely hoping he would commit. Poor choice. Starting to wonder if there was an in-group of vets and an out-group of youngsters, Abby call-ups and fill-in trade acquisitions.

Sounds like they're ready to jettison anyone who isn't ready to commit to the team. It will be interesting who gets moved, and what that says - especially if it's a younger player. I can imagine the Twins trying the helpful encouragement route with Petey when they were development coaches; I can imagine a harder approach this time. The ice thief has to know he's on thin ice with the organization - NMC or no.

This was the one thing this crew had going for them IMO when their names were being bandied about among the external options: they may were there for the shit-show, but they had little hand in it, and so know where the mistakes were made and where all the bodies are buried. They are best-placed to identify the dysfunction and iron it out in a why that a newcomer wouldn't. Likely why folks clean house when they get in there. In this case, the dysfunction starts with ownership, so it wouldn't matter how much house-cleaning the new guy would did. At least this crew should realize that and know how to manage it.
