To me, its not that they let him go, its that they only got a 4th for him. If that was the value, we should have kept him and run with 3
In hindsight for sure - and even at the time many were recommending this.
Ian Clark is in charge of our goaltending, and we have to figure that he had a lot of insight and say in the decision to let Silovs go. Maybe he believed in Demko too much to consider the risks? Maybe he recommended the Lankinen contract? But I would guess that he had a lot to do with our current goaltending mess. Maybe a better coach than manager?

Oh for sure there was back room conversations, but one would have to think that it would have been Ian’s job to pick which goalies were staying and Alvin’s job to get value, no?
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.

That's what I'm saying - Clark (likely, or should have) made the decisions, and then it was a matter of going with 3 goalies (until Demko got injured) or moving Silovs. Who knows if we could have got more for him if we waited - or kept him - but we have to assume that was the best offer on the table, sadly enough.

In any case, it seemed rushed at the time.
The good news is that this team learns from past mistakes, and we won't do it again with Talapia. Said no Canuck fan ever.
It seems it works that way for certain youngsters who have run out of waivers. Podkolzin, Silovs. Who is next. It getting virtually nothing back or in signing other players that just dont work out. Now neither Silovs or Podkolzin would have saved our season but its the giving up on them. Add in giving up on Kozmenko. Those Eastern Europeans....
