Announcing the next great hockey binger on Crave to rival the "heated" one...

"These Fuckin' Guys"

Shit writes itself with enough material to fill 20 solid seasons. Pilot episode sees longtime season ticket holder pull the rug from family friend and business partners to buy his childhood team, and the rest is pure gold. Epic cast keeps growing by the day since.

A good title for season 8, enjoy his cameo as protagonist.

Ok. So we have a premise.

No it’s time for the script.

We will have to bring Blob back to play the part of Benning.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

A pro-hockey version of “The Office”? I would check it out. Like an edgier version of “Ted Lasso”.

Hell, the organization could morph the “All-Access” idea into a “Modern Family”-style reality show. As has been said, they don’t need scriptwriters with this cast of clowns.

Any volunteers here to be show-runner?

Nah, it's never had one, why start now? Tis precisely what makes this shit show so damn entertaining. Kinda the hockey version of the clowns currently running a certain country I shall not name.

The past couple seasons alone watching the two Kojaks put their heads together and make asses of themselves is Emmy bank. All that's missing is the soundtrack rights to Benny Hill's Yakety Sax.

I remember feeling hopeful when the baldies took over. That quickly changed when I started hearing all the rumours about how much disdain they had for Bruce. I remember the first off season hearing that there was a split in management about what to do about Bruce. Owners were well aware of the PR disaster that would follow if they did not allow him to return for one more year, it was his choice. The word started to leak about how he could not coach, just ran a run and gun operation, had no defensive structure. The baldies wanted to go in a different direction but owners, mindful of the potential backlash, wanted a ticket drive based around "Bruce there it is".

That was the first inkling of how they manage with leaks. Whether Bruce was the right guy for the job or not, the lack of respect they showed him soured me. But also left me worried. We saw this theme play out over and over. The leaks, the public shaming of players etc.

We went down the same path of trading 1sts and 2nds, quickly soured on some skill guys, and made questionable trades. I liked Ricky boy but felt he had no offensive freedom. It started to show.

Somewhere between Bruce and Ricky there had to be an option.

Retrospectively it seems clear that most decisions they made were around trying to do whatever they felt would entice Hughes to stay. If they had a direction they quickly lost it and went down that rabbit hold.

I am stunned at how quickly the wheels fell off. I am beyond confused as to why we cannot make those trades that bring back high picks. I am concerned that owners will run out of any patience they have right now when the ticket drive for next season slows. I fear they will fire the baldies but not hire someone with enough autonomy and a real rebuild plan.

I see years of futility. We once had Pettersson, Demko, Hughes, Boeser, JT, Horvat as the young guys we were building around with hope for the future. It will take years to get back to where we once were. If only owners had realized:
