Thereafter he was arguably one of their more consistent defenders.

He was also 17 1/2 at the time.

For me....

McKenna
Verhoeff
Stenberg
Lawrence
Belchetz over Lawrence.

Which 18 year olds, and especially ones coming out of the SHL, can hold on to pucks with grown-ass NHL men draped all over them? (Ok, that sounded a bit ghay :look:)

Buy local. The Swede is the third BPA for me.
The Swede is 5'11", he sees eye to eye with Lekkerimaki. He's unlikely to get much done in the NHL with people draping all over him, imvho.

Elias Pettersson had 56 PTs in 45 GP in his first season in the SweHL. Without someone doing the heavy lifting on the first line against the top defenders, he has struggled with the physical game of the NHL.

Ivar Stenberg is clocking 34 PTs in 37 GP in the SweHL.

While I get that Stenberg is younger (Scooter was post draft), I question the thought process here that is so certain he will be amazing based on his “legendary” SweHL campaign.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

So is The Russian in Minny but he seems to do pretty well. Stenberg is strong and quick in tight. He's not going to be what you're concerned about. He's solid

I'm not down on McKenna at all. If we get either one I'll b ecstatic but I wonder why so many are putting Stenberg so far below GM. They're both game breakers

Ya I agree. But one question. This management group seems to like to add players to keep other players happy. Who would work better with Pettersson???

If that's how ownership and management are choosing to move forward we may as well shut down the site and find something else to do our lives.

56 years. 50 fucking 6 loooong years.

We've never had a sniff at a Canadian prospect of this caliber. Ever.

Someone on par with the last three 1st overall picks. All Canadians who are making an immediate difference for their teams.

If talent being equal, why would you not take someone from your backyard who has the skill and the swagger, has been under the Canadian media spotlight for years and would be proud and capable of being the man for this franchise.

We're not just talking good Canadian kids like Smyl, Linden or Horvat who bled Canucks colours. We're talking someone WAY more infinitely skilled.

We NEED a complete culture change here.

We can't change the owner, who won't turf these fucking guys... so everything else must be purged and wiped clean. Enough coddling. Any normal employee would have been fired long ago for lack of qualifications and performance.

This is 1 reason why I would be surprised by an, in season, Pettersson trade. I wouldn’t be surprised if they wait to see where they are drafting before deciding his fate.

I'm 100% with Carl.

Fuck holding on to EP to see what happens.

Fuck Swedish Touches.

Draft some red blooded Canadians.

Get that EP festering boil the fuck out of here, keeping him around is the absolute epitome of one step forward two steps back.

Move on.

These fucking guys....

There's a real chance for this team to develop some kind of (new) (any?) culture in the next couple of months, with trades and drafting, they can choose what this team will become.

I'm not banking on it, but it's possible.

Dunno if JR was rambling out of turn about needing more Canadians, but this seems clearly like an Allvin directive.

Decisions like EP and trading 1st rounders for Meat is what collapsed promise in record time. A couple of strategic removals and the entire Jenga structure was dismantled in the blink of an eye.

Another brilliant (wrong) decision will set this franchise back another quarter century... after the baldies have long been fired and forgotten.

Shoot that fucking guy into the sun now.

Although they won tonight, the Sharks struggles during the seasons second half, (their record is better only than us, Rangers and Blues I believe), over a several week span puts them mid 20's overall.

Due to the Sherwood trade if all remained status quo the Canucks could have 4 of the top 40 picks in the '26 draft.

As noted in Dear AIG.

It's shit or get off the pot time FA.

Find yourself a legit, team building POH/GM and back the fuck off.
