Another loss, but really, Demko's story is the only one that matters tonight.
Hughes seems fine, thankfully.

Way to battle Mëds.

Did what I could.
This game was not well reflected on the scoreboard.
The Jets with 3 very lucky goals in the first period.....the Canucks with 3 good goals. Count the "earned" markers and it's 3-1 Vancouver. Winnipeg did not deserve this one. Lady Luck is a cruel mistress though.

Yes, luck, but you put yourself in a position to be lucky. Go to the blue paint, force defenseman down there (and when they don't, you saw the goals the other night), and then throw the puck into the mixing bowl, keeping shots low. You get lucky a lot more doing this, so, not always luck.... Contrast this with no one crashing the net, and when there is a net front presence, choosing to tip instead of screen or be a backboard, and shots trying to pick upper corners instead of skates and shin pads.
The third Jets goal was an unlucky tip by Sherwood, but everything he touches goes into the net, so it was kind of expected. And the clear was ill-fated, from MP3's ill-advised pass (after making a great little play) to Sherwood not accounting for Myers (strange because he appeared to take a peak at the situation before firing it off the giraffe). Not clearing the zone when you can -- also bad karma....

Very nicely played.
A legitimate, albeit dry, sense of humour beyond that stoic demeanor.

Like they don’t know any other players name and are too far away to read the nameplates on jerseys.

There have been stories about his mental fragility for years. Perhaps fragility is the wrong word. More hypochondria. There was the time he refused to get on a plane after taking a knock to the head for fear of flying if he had a concussion. I think that was around his first training camp.Mëds wrote: ↑Tue Nov 11, 2025 9:05 pm
Demko has a bit of a reputation for being mentally fragile with injuries as well. His movements tonight looked like a guy who felt a little tweak, and then was second guessing the shit outta himself at every movement like he just isn't sure if he tweaked it or not, but now he's too scared to actually injure himself.
There have been numerous games where he was supposed to start but magically couldn't at the last minute.
It takes him longer to recover from injuries than forecast. I remember Tocchet on more than one occasion when asked about Demko's return would say well we did expect him back but he has had a set back. Or words to that affect. Or we are not really sure at this point. Like Mëds said, he is always, not just right to return yet.
I suspect this time the maintenance weekend was due to the groin issue and he tried to play through last night and could not finish. His movements were off that first period so something was bugging him.
I think his injuries are real. But I think he has a little hypochondria in him. Yes he is a beast at rehab etc. Yes he takes care of himself. But he also is fragile. With goalies though it is much harder to play through some injuries. I just dont think he will ever be reliable. At one time I thought he was a prima donna with all of his injuries but I think now it is more a mental thing.
There is no question though that when Bubble Demko is on he is one of the best in the league.
The only HW the Canucks need

When you say it that way, yes, hypochondria was the word that fits better.....and reading the rest of your post I believe it was you I was thinking of who originally "confirmed" what other people had read in the tea leaves.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Wed Nov 12, 2025 1:15 pmThere have been stories about his mental fragility for years. Yup. When they locked up Lankinen last season, I thought they were going to dump Demmer in the summer. Instead they extended him and gave him a healthy raise.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Tue Nov 11, 2025 8:09 pm So obviously something more than maintenance is wrong with Demko. He looked off in the first. Usually he moves smoothly but he wasn’t tonight. The guy is so fragile. Should have traded him and kept Silovs.
They had King Arthurs there whom they groomed all these years. He's young, cheap, display TONS of potential and looked like he was on the cusp of being NHL rdy, yet they shipped him out for a bag of pucks. EP40 has been pretty average for almost 2 yrs now, yet they still keep throwing out there in prime minutes. Silovs did struggle for a good chunk of last season, yet they ship him out without hesitation.
I was pissed when we lost Silovs. They should have just kept him, no fuqin doubt.

They don’t have another option there.Todd Bersnoozi wrote: ↑Wed Nov 12, 2025 4:52 pm EP40 has been pretty average for almost 2 yrs now, yet they still keep throwing out there in prime minutes.
