Almost as well…..but only in contract years.
The biggest knock on the majority of them has been inconsistency.
The trio you list, as well as Kucherov, Bure, and Datsyuk, are the only ones that immediately come to mind as those who were consistent.
Yeahbut plenty of non-Russians were inconsistent and still seen as leaders.
For example, Dustin Brown got lots of media hand jobs for his leadership, and his play was generally inconsistent.
I can’t think of many middle-6 calibre Russians
Off the topic of leadership, but I think this is true of Euros generally, and Russians especially. It's only worthwhile to come to the NHL if you're going to be in the top salary tier; otherwise, might as well stay home and play in the local league. Certainly not worth the bother to just be a plumber.
(I will trust Per to correct me if I am wrong about the Swedes in this regard.)

You privy to the arena seat fiasco at all??
What's this about Donny?
I went to a preseason game this year. The seats had all been replaced with black ones (with cupholders, finally) but yet a few rows of red seats remain. Did someone not count correctly?

The family oft lives in the neighbourhood of cheap (allegedly) when it comes to contracting things out, Canucks or otherwise......
Typical of WOPs, obsessed with getting the cheapest contractors then are surprised by the chaos of hiring cheap contractors. It’s a self inflicted wound. I’m a 3rd generation watered down partial wop and as a contractor I won’t work for WOP homeowners anymore. They are up there with the Persian and Mainland China homeowners, Persians being the worst, they simply don’t pay their bills. All 3 groups are only happy if you are losing money. The Chinese just want to barter you down to below break even numbers, I can’t fucking stand it.

Puts them quite a bit over the cap, which they don't have to address right away with Kovacevic on LTIR. But they have to move someone at some point. There could be takers for Hamilton if he plays well, but that's a lot of cap space for a team to absorb. Can't imagine anyone wants Palat at that hit. Dillon and Pesce have no trade clauses. Sigenthaler's salary isn't enough to get under the cap. I'm curious to see how they get out of it.

Dawson Mercer for Kiefer Sherwood? They get cap relief, and we get a young 3rd line kid. Beyond that, I don't see an obvious trade. and I don't see Jersey wanting to do this trade either.

Go away for 6 months and EP goes from being discussed in the same sentence as Datsyuk to now Kaprizov.
EP40 has the hands and can deke like Datsyuk, pass like Hank and shoot like Nasi.
The only issue is that he has the bambi legs and doesn't have the lower body leg strength like Kaprizov, so he gets knocked on his ass a lot. Prob the reason why he complains about tendinitis.
