CC Random thread

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

The Rundown: Intology AI's Zochi just became the first AI to independently achieve peer-reviewed publication at ACL 2025, an A* natural language processing conference, showing the ability to conduct scientific research at the highest academic standards.

The details:
• Zochi autonomously completed the entire research process, from analyzing thousands of papers to designing experiments and writing the manuscript.
• The system's "Tempest" paper on multi-turn jailbreaking achieved a 4.0 meta-review score, placing it in the top 8.2% of all ACL submissions.
• Operating without human intervention except for formatting fixes, Zochi identified research gaps, implemented new methods, and validated results.
• Intology plans to release Zochi in beta as a collaborative research tool, starting with a general copilot before expanding to full autonomous capabilities.

Why it matters: We’ve seen plenty of competition in the AI scientist arena, but ACL’s selective acceptance rate and the paper’s score reflect one of the most impressive publications to date from an agentic system. As AI begins contributing original research alongside humans, the pace of discovery is about to exponentially increase.
In other news...
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he may ban government scientists from publishing in top medical journals, the latest move in the Trump administration’s ongoing assault on scientific institutions. “We’re probably going to stop publishing in The Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and those other journals because they’re all corrupt,” Kennedy said.

I think I'm finally done. I dont have a pile of money but it should never take a man 90 minutes each way to go from Port Coquitlam to Abbotsford. Thats what 50 K? There weren't any accidents but it was gridlock back and forth. I got soaked on crypto bu I am done here. I would tent it in Needa Lake before locking in here.My kids can chase me around the Okanagan or the Thompson. Bumper to bumper all the way out puked through a half tank of gas. I'm done. I'll live in the Boo instead of here. All these machines trying to figure out how to get the third lane to Aldergrove. It should be four lanes to Hope and four lanes back. My kids can fuck their hats. This place is a cesspool. I'd rather live in Yellowknife

With the cake you bank you can spend 6 months a year getting alcohol poisoned in various tropical 3rd world shitholes and still be set up like a kang. Just like young Topper

This is how I felt about city living 45 years ago. Get out as soon as you can Blob. Living in small towns or rural areas will drop your blood pressure and increase your quality of life. Plus it's cheaper and the people are much friendlier.

People actually smile in rural towns Expat. They don't stare and glare, they don't mean mug a person. They say these neat things like 'Hello' and 'Good Morning', 'Excuse me'

People hold doors open, they don't cut a brother off and lob the bird leading up to a red light. I don't want to go full Rock Creek like Angry Wiebo or Bountiful like the ancient Listercat, but I'm frazzled here.

Is Listercat still upright?
