Rasmus Kupari from the Jets is another C I've heard as a possible target. 25, R shot, good f/o %JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 11:17 am Though I'd leave this here - June 30th is the earliest date teams can talk to RFAs, with July 1st being the earliest an offer sheet can be signed.
OFFER SHEET AAV: COMPENSATION
$1,544,424 or less - None
Over $1,544,424 to $2,340,037: Third-round pick
Over $2,340,037 to $4,680,076: Second-round pick
Over $4,680,076 to $7,020,113: First- and third-round picks
Over $7,020,113 to $9,360,153: First-, second-, and third-round picks
Over $9,360,153 to $11,700,192: Two firsts, one second and one third
Over $11,700,192: Four first-round picks
Canucks Draft Picks:
2025 - 1st (15th OA), 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th
2026 - 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th & 6th
2027 - 1st. 3rd, 2x 4th (Mikheyev)
Perhaps this is the chance to start reuniting the Hughes boys... Luke Hughes - D - NJD: 7G 44P - 925K. Not sure he has Quinn's upside - but being on the same team, you know he will get the best training/mentoring etc. Would you throw a 7x9.3mil at him?
Some other notable RFAs:
Marco Rossi - C - MIN: 24G 60P - 863K - A midget. Not sure I'd want such a small #2C. No thanks here.
Mason McTavish - C - ANA: 22G 52P - 894K - Really interesting. Has great size, skill - but would need a sizable contract to pull him. Has bust written all over it.
JJ Peterka - LW - BUF: 67G 67P - 856K - Never seen him play. No idea.
Gabe Vilardi - RW - WIN: 27G 61P - 3.44M - Brock Boeser's replacement?
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it

Don't forget that anything over 5 years of term increases the compensation required.5thhorseman wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 2:57 pm Ducks have lots of cap room. You'd have to offer an outrageous contract. Boeser money, max term?
You don't want to go over 5 years usually.
EDIT: link...
https://www.silversevensens.com/nhl-off ... les-guide/
In reality, the Offer Sheet value is determined by taking the total value (salary, and signing/reporting bonuses), and dividing it by either the number of seasons the offer is for or five - whichever is lower. This means that the offer sheet value is the same as the AAV if the offer is for five years or less, but for six and seven year offer sheets the offer sheet value will be significantly higher than the actual AAV. The value increases each year, based on the growth in the league's average salary.
For example, a seven year contract with a cap hit of $7 million would have an offer sheet value of $9.8 million ($49m total value divided by 5) - worth four first round picks instead of a first, second and third like a five year, $7m per year contract would be.

Good to know Doc, thanks for the clarification.
No one on that list is worth 4 firsts for sure.

So an offer sheet value of $9.8 million would be two firsts, one second and one third, not four firsts, right? Doc, I believe your article was from 2015 so perhaps the figures were outdated (I haven't checked).Strangelove wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 3:13 pm .

7 x $7M then?

But 5 x $7M = One first and one third.
Big difference.
Yes, old article, I just grabbed the first one that popped up on google.

We could offer up to 7 x $6,685,714 for one first and one third.
I bet Anaheim would match though. I would.

$6,685,714 times 7 = $46,799,998
$46,799,998 divided by 5 = 9,359,999.6
I think you got that but missed the 2nd.
For others then.

The more we try to speed things up the further behind we get. How about, for once, while under the Aqualini Rule, they practice a little patience?
Naaahhh, this is the Aqualini Canucks, what was I thinking?

Interesting article explains offer sheets and compensation. All picks must be for 2026 and we don’t have our 2026 3rd. So it limits what we can offer, unless we get our 3rd back from Calgary.

Re: 2025 Canucks Off-season
Some think the Isles will select with their first overall pick James Hagens, a local Long Island kid. But not just because he’s a local kid. NYI prospect - Cole Eiserman has had great chemistry with Hagens at the international level:
“Hagens was born and raised in Hauppauge, Long Island, and grew up an Islanders fan. However, we're basing our prediction mainly on the fact winger Cole Eiserman is among the Isles' top prospects. He's also a friend and former teammate of Hagens with the US National Team Development Program.
Eiserman believes Hagens will become an Islander. The club's management could make that a reality by reuniting Hagens and Eiserman as future linemates, forming a potentially potent one-two punch on their top line in a few years.”
This would make the Sharks happy as I believe they really want Schaefer to bolster their D future along with Dickinson. The Sharks definitely do not need another centre with Celebrini, not too mention, Grier coming out and saying recently that they want to put Will Smith back at centre next year.
This would put Misa in Chicago’s hands as Defence isn’t a problem in Chicago, future wise. With Nazar and Befard locking down the middle ice another smallish centre is not what the Blackhawks are looking for so a big C/W like Misa or big winger like Martone certainly fits the bill with Chicago.
Chefs prediction:
1. NYI - Hagens
2. SJ - Schaefer
3. Hawks - Misa
Although
I gather the Isles may fancy the idea of a top pairing of RS Dobson and LS Schaefer.
Tough choice for the Islanders

Re: 2025 Canucks Off-season
Teams with multiple picks in the first round
Flyers - 3 first round picks: 6th, 23rd and 30th.
Predators - 3 first round picks: 5th, 24th, 27th
Montreal - 2 first round picks: 16th, 17th
Sharks - 2 first round picks: 2nd, 26th
Chicago - 2 first round picks: 3rd, 31st
Columbus - 2 first round picks: 14th, 20th
Calgary - 2 first round picks: 18th, 22nd
The Flyers strike me as the team open to moving picks. I would classify them, with Montreal and Columbus as teams looking to transition out of rebuild mode.
Teams like Chicago, San Jose, Calgary are rebuilding so they are keeping the picks. The Predators I’m not so sure of but I imagine they are keeping their picks.
Its depressing seeing a team like the Canadians with so many good young players - Suzuki, Caufield, Demidov, Guhle, Hutson, Slafkovsky, Reinbacher to name a few having two more first round picks coming while we keep shipping out picks in Aqualini World like they are going out of style. What’s even worse is hearing all our idiotic fans and media proposing to offer up our 2025 first rd pick and a top prospect to acquire immediate help for our anemic top 6, an area of our lineup that was once the envy of the league two seasons ago, and now the laughing stock.
But hey! Our defence is better! Lol
