That was #79 Smmy Blais. He has been tremendous in these playoffs—Abby's best player.

Seems he's been up and down from NHL to the A his whole career - I'm guessing he would be considered a 'call-up' at best? (for the big club)
257 NHL games, I would expect him to shine in the A.

Absolutely. Blob was asking about him earlier, and he'd been pretty decent at that point, but he's really taken off in the playoffs. He's only on an AHL contract this year, for the first time as far as I know. Abby signed him partway into the season, and then he got hurt and missed a stretch of games. He should earn himself a two-way NHL deal for next season with his play in the playoffs, hopefully here with the Canucks. Yeah, lots of NHL experience, even a Stanley Cup ring with the Blues. His skating is choppy, but he holds onto the puck, and AHLers can't pry it away from him. He runs over people, too, knocks 'em down like bowling pins. I think he would be handy to have around for the Canucks.

You just described anyone in our top six :D (well, except for the knocking people over part)

As our resident farm team aficionado Megs series scouting report Megs.

We in one or do we have a chance?

Abby went 6-2 vs Colorado this year. Don, It looks to be a favorable matchup from our side. They have some good players, but it's not a roster that would put fear into opponents. Like all AHL teams, they will have a physical edge over Abby, but nothing too outrageous.

I can picture Abby hoisting the Calder Cup this year :)

That would be pretty cool and obviously a great experience for our future NHL youth to build on.

Thanks.

Quite the break between series.

Ownership needs time to cash in some bottles to afford the travel expenses?

Noticed Silovs is looking better taking shots from distance. Hopefully he keeps it up. He’s always been good in tight, and going side to side. If he can permanently fix the weakest part of his game, managing shots from distance, he can still have a legitimate NHL future. Hopefully he can keep up his good run in these playoffs. He’ll still need to prove he can manage those shots from snipers at the NHL level in future seasons, but he’s trending back up right now.
