Hope so.

But I still doubt it.

See you in 15 years.

In my reading of 100% of posts excluding Doc's, the vibe in this place has turned on a dime to assume that Quinn will leave.

Based on what? Quinn's statement in 2021 that it would be a dream to play with his bros? What brother wouldn't?

Maybe more credit should be given to Quinn 's character than the ramblings of an old man.

That's my opinion.

Great, thanks for stating as much.

Still feels to me like the writing is on the wall.

But that's just like my donkyish opinion man.

And it's not based only on the ramblings of an old man.

It's based on his desire to win combined with the appearance of disconnect in our front office.

It's based on the Miller fiasco and his apparent leanings there.

It's based on the Tocchet situation.

It's based on him asking his captain to train with him and (allegedly) being declined.

Again, like with EP, I hope I am wrong.

Sorry to split hairs here Donny, but I feel like that needs correcting because that reads like EP is Quinn's captain.....

It is based on QH (the captain and franchise defenseman) asking his teammate, and supposed-to-be franchise center counterpart, to train with him and (allegedly) being declined.

Frankly, in all of what you said (that I clipped for brevity), it is, imeho, management's massive commitment to a guy with obvious commitment issues (allegedly) that would be the driving force for Hughes to leave. If that is the case, then we could see spillover here into this organization's ability to attract key pieces in free agency without massively overpaying for them.....which I would attribute to worthwhile UFA targets having a similar desire to win and their seeing your previously observed appearance of disconnect in our front office.

Again, we are left to interpret without all of the details, so maybe I'm just braying (again), as it were. But as Chef so astutely coined it today: read the fucking tea leaves.

I don't think anyone here is questioning Hughes' character. Certainly nobody here that presumes he will exit stage left is discrediting him. I think that most of that camp, myself included (obviously), actually are crediting Hughes character as someone who has strong family ties and a desire to be part of an organization that prioritizes winning results, even if that means making a risky or unpopular decision.

Yeah Mëds thanks for the edit.

I typed that on the treadmill and wasn't paying enough attention.

Clearly the opposite is what I intended to portray.

So much changed in a year for the bad (and some things stayed the same) - but maybe they can get that #2 C soon, and Demko does stay healthy all season(s), Petey puts in the work in the off season - and a reasonably competent coach gets hired. That will take this team a long way back to competition.

Things can turn around in a positive light just as fast as they went downhill.

I'm hopeful that happens. Almost have to be :)

...a lot of ifs, buts and maybes massaged into that top line I quoted JPP but yes, you are right, it is all we have to cling to and what we have to hope for.

Fingers crossed because, as we all know, the pains of being connected to the fandom of this team got old a long, long time ago.

I knew what you meant. ;)

I just wasn’t sure if some of the Liberal voters here were astute enough to figure it out. :look:

Oops…..that belongs elsewhere.

Talk about "biting the hand that feeds you"! :wow:

Strangelove's tough love was the only hope you had of ever returning to good mental health my friend.

Irony, thy name is 5thhorseman.

Speaking of irony, I believe Quinn will indeed finish his career in Vancouver...
