Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Cozens has suck balls the last season and a half and Byram is a concussion away from retirement
Hey Trump, I’m ANTIFA.
Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
There's an article I read that breaks down stats nicely and it runs counter to that eye test.....I'll try to find it.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 11:12 am It’s the age factor and ceiling that makes me choose Petey over Miller. The team seemed to not miss Miller at all while he was on hiatus and Petey played great in his absence
I agree, the team did not miss 2024-25 Miller while he was out for his 10 game leave. However, the team has been missing 2019-2024 Miller since the puck dropped in October. Whatever the issue is, it runs back to last season methinks and they tried to deal with it during the summer and into training camp and pre-season.....to no avail.
I also agree with the position that their respective ages should push the Canucks towards sticking with Pettersson. Keeps the age spread of the core under 30 for a couple more years.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Feels like you're doing the 180 of what EP apologists do.
They guy has played 1 legit post season of 12 games when he was 23 and the only other experience was his rookie year.
There is not a significant enough case there (yet) for the typical Euro comment.
His last 2.5 year stats as he moves into his prime are more than credible considering the positives of his 200 foot game.
Snips in time.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Sorry Donny, my posting of his regular season stats was meant as an endorsement of his 200 foot game. I actually didn't look at the season by season playoff stats, just the career numbers.donlever wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 12:01 pmFeels like you're doing the 180 of what EP apologists do.

Listed at 6' 1" - 175 though.....that's my concern if we don't build some size around a guy like that. Same concern if they stick with Pettersson.

...yeah...I'm talking around the parameters of restructuring this mess so size on the wings is needed if Miller leaves and a smaller center comes back.
Devils have some kid from Bieksas hometown Jonathan Kovacevic who is like possibly a FuckupBort/Disastersharnais upgrade in the toughness department.
Regardless I was not the one suggesting Hischier in my ramblings.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Remember that Jack Hughes struggled mightily in his first two seasons before consistently becoming the #1 center he was supposed to be. Makes Hischier's role as NJD's own Bo Horvat much easier as he enters his prime years.
Now you add Luke Hughes and a solid D... well, this should be their time.
Yup, I wouldn't put too much into his playoff numbers yet. The 12 playoff games @24yo was by no means a horrible performance.
Btw, if you have to compare EP to anyone, it should be Jack Hughes... slight, dynamic #1 center who should be leading the offence and running the PP, showcasing his skills every night. Consistent. No excuse-making. $8M x 8.

Everyone who leaves that NY hell hole regains their lustre and shines. Ryan O'Reilly, Zach Bogosian, Jack Eichel. Kyle Okposo, Sam Reinhart, and Evan Rodrigues just recently... cup winners.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 11:46 am Cozens has suck balls the last season and a half and Byram is a concussion away from retirement

And this is why skating ability is so fucking important, and becomes even more important when considering a small or slight player. Jack Hughes is fast and shifty, explosive acceleration, smooth like his older brother. He makes Pettersson look like Georges Laraque by comparison.Carl Yagro wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 1:02 pmBtw, if you have to compare EP to anyone, it should be Jack Hughes... slight, dynamic #1 center who should be leading the offence and running the PP, showcasing his skills every night. I wouldn't mind seeing EP40 on the point with Hughes for the #1PP - it would give us a lot more options, and not waste Petey waiting around for the one-timer that never arrives.Carl Yagro wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 1:02 pm Btw, if you have to compare EP to anyone, it should be Jack Hughes... slight, dynamic #1 center who should be leading the offence and running the PP, showcasing his skills every night. Hughes, Pettersson, Miller, Boeser, Whoever - should be enough for a top-10 or top-5 power play in this league.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
...And it was, especially when Bumper Bo was on the unit. But even Beau2 had his share. Kuzmenko, anyone? I mean, Jake isn't deathly afraid to go to the net. Why is it suddenly so bad?
Not picking on the guy, but why can't EP run it on the half-boards like Naslund or H. Sedin if he's worth his salt? Whatever you want to call it, 1st or 2nd unit. Naslund made all RHD AHlers into studs on the PP... Bryan Helmer? Sopey? Fuck, even Bieska. Hank had Dank and neither would ever shoot.
I might be a grumpy old man, and that's why I can't stand the coddling and excuse-making. Stop the drama, trade both. Get something for Quinn to work with quick before he rips the C off his own chest and bolts. I'm fine with dat.
We often suggested getting assets for Brock for this same reason... before this regime has to once again coerce newly signed contract to waive NMC
Without his centerman at the top of his game, he's just a really nice kid.
Anyone thinking EP is safe now to live out his current contract with the club... nuh uh, don't get too comfortable.

This....as stated before....I'd do Cozens Byram for EP in a heartbeatCarl Yagro wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 1:07 pmEveryone who leaves that NY hell hole regains their lustre and shines.
