The world is not moving in any particular direction.

Yes, the US, Argentina, Hungary, Italy, etc are moving right.

But Brazil just rejected Bolsonaro, Poland dumped its far-right leadership; the right didn't triumph in France as predicted, the UK got its first labor government in ages, Mexico elected a progressive woman, Germany has a left-of-center PM, Australia has a labor PM, Spain has a socialist prime minister.

It's easy to see a trend due to confirmation bias.
