Turnover at the line and the Gulls make 3-1. Mid second period.

Sasson wins a draw back to McWard at the point and he beats Dansk from the point with a slap shot. And that it for Dansk as Calle Clang comes in in relief.
4-1 Abby early in the third period.

Personally surprised to see Kudryavtsev not in the lineup tonight.
Klimovich also sitting this one out. At least those two can talk to each other in Russian.

Aman loses a defensive zone draw and it's a 4-2 game.

Carpenter deflects a Harkins shot over Patera's glove for a San Diego pp goal.
4-3 Canucks with six minutes to go in the third.

Jett Woo gives the puck away on a tee to Roland McKeown and absolutely blows it by Patera to tie the game late in the third as the Canucks fall apart.

Woo gives it away in his own zone AGAIN and tic tac toe it's behind Patera.
5-4 San Diego with three minutes to go in an almost comical Canucks meltdown.

Abby surrenders five straight goals in the third period including an empty netter to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as Jett Woo personally gift wraps the tying and go ahead goals for the Gulls. The Canucks appeared to be out of gas in the third period as the grueling schedule caught up to them

Re: Abby Game Talk Oct-Nov 2024
He has probably been the biggest early surprise for me as I thought he would struggle with the AHL pace based on my limited viewing of him late last season and this preseason and he really hasn't. He's played every game so far despite crazy depth on the blueline playing with a variety of partners including McWard, fellow rookie Kudryavtsev, and the injured Friedman. His passing has become surprisingly dialed in compared to the grenades he was throwing around in his cup of coffee with Abby last season, he has also reigned in his physicallity and is playing a simple steady defensive game. He has been shooting the puck from the point and pinching in the offensive zone when required. And, crucially, he is not getting beat wide defending the rush, something I can scarcely believe. He's getting steady second/third pairing deployment with a dash of PK time for good measure. Altogether, the kid has really forced me to eat my shoe with his early season play, and I'm happy to do so.

Am I ever glad they picked up Lankinen for Van, for a while there - it might have been Silvos and Patera in net for the big club.
Would have been 0-10-0 with this type of goaltending.
Hopefully when Demko is back, Silvos will regain a bit of his moxie. Or Abby is in trouble.

Yeah, great pickup, and the icing on the cake was that we got him for under a mil. Thank God, Lankinen was too greedy in his salary demands with Nashville and was still available.
