There's a pile of tweeners on the farm -- they could be replacement level, its possible that one or two could become replacement + players. And there are a couple of NHL prospects that could be something more.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 10:52 pm Bains is awful. AHL Sheldon Dries type player. There's a pile of hot garbage for forwards on the farm.,There's decent depth D. But when a team is a tire fire from 2015-2022 one might think they accrue some young assets. Good Old Elms. Hopefully he's in a home now playing checkers with Gohmert.
Bains isn't one, in my view. I wouldn't say hot garbage, but he doesn't seem to have a skill set that looks like NHL success when that skill set is more fully realized. He's the kind of player who looks good against AHL opponents, but is neutralized by NHL players. He needs that extra beat of time, that slower turn by the D, etc., to take advantage his talents.
The only reason there could be some optimism is that he was a late developer, so maybe there's more than a skill set to grow into; instead, skills that can be meaningfully grown. I doubt it, it's rare, but possible.
For call ups to play down in the line up, I'd rather see Karlsson.
