That's in his favour then.
It was quite out of character.....hence why I missed it.

He is young still and may grow up, but that remains to be seen.

Was he the guy that Jay Beagle beat up? Or was that Aaron Asham?Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 10:02 amHe is young still and may grow up, but that remains to be seen.

Asham was a tough dude, the natives tend to be good scrappers in the NHLBlob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 11:58 amWas he the guy that Jay Beagle beat up? Or was that Aaron Asham?Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 10:02 amHe is young still and may grow up, but that remains to be seen.

I really liked the direction of mgmt last season as they spent money and assets @ centre ice and D. This off season, it seems like they spent everything on the wings. I like being strong in the middle, so I like have solid centres and D-men. I don't mind being weaker on the wings. The thing is, I think we have some young wingers improving (Hogs & Podz) and some wingers coming along in the system (Lekkermaki & Raty). It seems like we have a surplus of wingers now and we don't really have any centres beyond the big club.
These 2 seem like strictly bottom pairing or 7th D-men kind of guys. At least with Zaddy and Cole, they could move up the lineup a bit and play some top 4 minutes. Now, if one of Huggy, Hronek, Soucy or Myers gets injured for an extended period, it may be asking too much of Forbort, Desharnais or Juulsen to step up. I can understand that maybe they didn't want to give Zaddy 6+ years, but they should have paid for a more proven guy like B.Dillon or Edmundson.Derek Forbort

The length of DeBrusk's contract is the thing I don't like more than anything. I thought it would have been better to get a guy who's a on the older side and would command less AAV + less term. Toffoli would have been nice. Other scorers who got contracts that I think would fit better for our situation are Duclair, Skinner, Duchesne or Tarasenko.
I guess they were desperate to get a winger for EP40 and believe that DeBrusk is the guy. It seems like that the Nucks have been wanting to get him for awhile now. Even under the old regime, I seem to recall JB wanted to trade Jake for DeBrusk. I will admit though, the way DeBrusk has been trending and he's right in his prime, he may have a couple of 30G seasons in him.
Also, with all these long-term contracts now, not sure we'll be able to keep Brockstar6.
