I haven't kept up to date to NHL teams' offseason plans, but this Trouba rumour(?)... is there a reason NYR want to part with a 30yo RHD of his size and caliber? Too much to pay for someone playing behind Fox? They need more cap to retool for their window?

Some suggest it reeks of trouble in the room but Trouba is apparently shocked by the fact he's on the block so that tells me that ain't it.

I'm more along the lines of thinking its because Lindgren and Schneider are RFA and Shesterkin, Lafrenierre and Miller need signing next year.

I also believe Drury would like to take a run at Stamkos after the disappearing act Panarin and Zibanajed did against the Panthers.

I see... yea, that all makes sense. NYR looking to possibly clear cap to re-sign younger, important pieces, so someone starts some BS rumours about the room. There would be a lineup for Trouba's services, but who would want that bloated Panarin contract? Just like 11.6, hair loss seems to sap a player's skillz.

That being said, I would be totally on board with your suggestion of going for Jacob if the Rags would be willing to eat enough cap (and if him and his wife is willing to return to Canada).

To NYR: Pettersson
To VAN: Trouba ($2M retained) + Laffreniere

Sign Lindholm
Sign Stamkos

Edit...

Oh yeah, and fuck the Rangers.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

I thought that the Stamkos hitting FA was a rumour but it seems to be true. Get him here on a 3 year deal.

Then sign a couple bottom pairing and boom off season is done and we plan a parade route.

Look how easy that is.

Seravalli reporting that Guentzel has agreed to terms in TBay. I guess that was inevitable after he was traded there.

Makes tomorrow more interesting for Allvin - let’s see how the team looks like 24 hours.

The leaves are apparently trying to get around the cap similarly by offering Tanev low dollars over eight years.

The league office has caught wind of this latest tactic I'm reading today and they're signaling Luongo recapture style circumvention penalties might in store for those who try this.
The most the Leaves can offer is 7 years.

(player must be on your roster on TDD to qualify for 8 years)

Yeah, it's definitely cap circumvention.

(and something I've often suggested your Vancouver Canucks do)

Of course if your Vancouver Canucks do it, a new rule would be instituted retroactively.

And mean.

We spoke briefly of this last week and I know it's not popular here BUT if NYR were to retain 2.5 - 3 and the residual cost to take him off their hands was minimal I'd like to take a run at Trouba.

After the beating Hughes took versus Nashville I'd like a nasty piece of business riding with him AND I'd prefer to see Hronek as RSD #3.

Our Zads replacement and a right hand shot.

We'd have him on the books for 2 years at the reduced rate allowing Willander and EP2 et al developmental time.

QH Trouba
Soucy Hronek
Juulsen Giraffe
Woo
McWard
Whatever else you want to do
Shit I like that idea Donald. Angry Jake would be so fuckin gnarly clearing the crease. He's a cunt and I like cunts

Canucks are not getting their top choices, but there is still hope. I’m thinking, if they don’t run out of time, they’ll circle back to Troy Stecher and Phil Kessel.
