AAV Compensation
$1 - $1,415,740 None
$1,415,741 - $2,145,061 1 3rd-round pick
$2,145,062 - $4,290,125 1 2nd-round pick
$4,290,126 - $6,435,186 1 1st-round pick, 1 3rd-round pick
$6,435,187 - $8,580,250 1 1st-round pick, 1 2nd-round pick, 1 3rd-round pick
$8,580,251 - $10,725,314 2 1st-round picks, 1 2nd-round pick, 1 3rd-round pick
$10,725,315 or more 4 1st-round picks
If someone signed him to the '2nd round compensation' bracket or above that, I would 100% let him go. 3rd round compensation bracket, would think about it, long and hard before matching.

So, guess what I am saying is, I am not sold on Silovs being anything more than an NHL back up at this point.

Yes, Silovs can be offersheeted.

Noted Canuck-hater Frank Seravalli made a point of broadcasting that fact to the world the other day

... and what a great move that would be for some team. :scowl:

But the reality is offersheets very rarely happen, so not much leverage at all there at all.
Fat Frank was banging the drum on that ridiculous Silovs buyout bullshit for a solid week actually.

Is there a bigger asshole in hockey media today?
Nope, there isn't.

It's coming out more and more now.

I always suspected he was a douche, but he worked hard at hiding that fact while he paid his dues, biding his time.

The best part of a team offersheeting Silovs is it would suddenly be acceptable for Pinky and the Brain to retaliate.

Revenge is a tasty dish indeed.

The mythical being known as the “offer sheet” returns to the discussion once again as it always does before July 1st and as fleeting as always just like the Ogopogo and Sasquatch.

Blob, nice seeing you again. My sabbatical found me wondering unknown streets confused until I found myself back here again. It’s like the Twilight Zone

I guess management must be concerned about the threat of Silovs getting offer-sheeted if they’re circling back on DeSmith.

Or they are worried that Demko won’t regain his heath to play a full season? :wow:

Or they recognize that Silovs benefits more from another year in Abbotsford than play 20-25 games in the NHL.

OR all of the above.

One question is who will be the RHD penalty killer. Last season Cole played his off side and was usually first over the boards on the PK. He was pretty good at that. Neither Hronek nor Myers are particularly adept at leading the penalty kill. Soucy is good on the left side. Maybe Juulsen? When he is playing lots and at his best he’s good on the PK, but I don’t know if they plan to play him in the top six and give him consistent minutes. Tanev or Pesce would be great, but probably not in their price range. They need someone who can kill penalties on the right side defence or their PK may revert back to something Boudreau would be proud of.

What do people project that Teuvo Teravainen will be commanding? He's coming off of a season where he scored at 0.70 ppg and had a cap hit of $5.4M.

He's an outstanding skater, really good hands, plays a 200 foot game.

I'd move Petey for parts and picks.

Lindholm back at $8M
Teravainen at $6.5M
DeBrusk or Bertuzzi at $4.5M
Roy or Montour.

Boeser - Miller - Podkolzin
DeBrusk - Lindholm - Teravainen
Joshua - Blueger - Garland
Hoglander - Suter - ______

Hughes - Hronek
Soucy - Montour/Roy
_____ - Myers
Friedman - Juulsen

Demko
______

RHD are getting big coin right now - Chatfield, DeMelo for example. I imagine Pesce and Tanev will no doubt be hitting Jackpot. Explains the Myers extension before Monday.

RHD Myers 3 years is a good placeholder timeline for RHD Willander. The Great Willando goes back to Boston year 1. Cooks in Abby and gets cups of coffee year 2. Gets brought in slowly down on the 3rd pair in year 3. Bye Myers hello Willander year 4. Chef will be senile in an old age home yelling inebriated stuff about a Blob MacKenzie year 5
