Demko is an interesting piece for sure. He looked like Patty Roy out there and if that is where his game is now then a championship is a legit possibility from here on out.

I'm not too worried about him. I don't expect him to play lights out like he did in the playoffs all season, but we should see some flashes of that game from time to time. Holtby will help steady the net, so it will all work out.

This season is going to be step sideways or slightly up, then we clear out some deadwood and get serious in 21-22.

Hughes will be better this year, and his points will depend on what the rest of the team does after he sets them up. Petey and Brock - no worries there either.

D should be slightly improved - if only because Tanev's 'man games lost' shouldn't be a factor.

Playoffs should be the goal, and last year's experience will pay dividends.

Podkolzin with 2Gs vs Austria. He looks like a young Nasi (#19) ripping a wrist shot top shelf on the off wing, then scores greasy goal in front of the net like Bert. :D

Looks like Victor Persson is adjusting and playing well in the dub. Looks like a solid defender @ that lvl and hard to beat. The One-Eyed, Bro Bro Rafferty didn't pan out, but at least we have Persson now to be our new Sami Salo project. :P

Josh Bloom had a fantastic memorial cup final, scoring three points and the game winner. I’m projecting he develops along the same path at noted Connor McDavid junior shutdown star Cole Cassels.

Maybe, but I think we gotta at least give Bloom a couple years in Abby to see if we have something there. Look @ DJ81, took him till the tender age of 28 before he really proved that he's an NHLer. Sometimes it's about a guy just not giving up and continually working to improve his game; sometimes it's just about being given a legit chance by an NHL club. Maybe it's a mix of both. Just look @ the Florida Panthers, they have 2 star players who kinda bounced around and developed into NHLers @ a later age as well: Carter Verhaeghe and our old buddy Gustav Forsling. Bloom has a nice frame, similar to D.Joshua. He might not have the nice touch around the net & grit like Joshua, but he might make up for it in other areas like maybe better 2-way play. Josh Bloom is only 21, so lots of time to see if he's a late Bloomer. :D

Man, speaking of Forsling, Jovo speaks very highly of him.

Gotta feel a bit for JB there. He spent all that time looking for a top 4 D, so he felt he needed to address that need with the infamous 2016 pick on Olaf Juju Juolevi. JB had Forsling right there in his first draft, but for whatever reason felt like he needed to swap Forsling for a RS D who can step into the lineup right away in Adam Clendening whom only lasted a whopping 17gp here. I remember Forsling performed like a star in the World Juniors, so he caught the attention of a lot of fans here. We started to think that we might have something there, so it was kinda odd that JB just kinda gave up on him. :(

Yes, odd. Wasn't JB supposed to be some kind of scouting savant?

I've wondered about that throughout the playoffs as I've followed the Panthers.

What the actual fuck happened there?

Dude is a heckuva all around player.....has a great shot too.
