Point?

I complain about cap manglement, not dollars coming out of the owners pocket. Cap manglement impacts player movement or lack thereof, trades and potential signings

I have already proven Virtanen is not in his league. Nylander is scoring at a better rate than Virtanen this year despite missing the 1st two months.

Virtanen blows.
10.2 mill will is making 9 million more than Jake this year - Jake 15 goals, 10.2 mill will 5 goals (9 goal pace over 82 games)
Who cares. He doesn't make 10.2 million per year, does he? Will you quote his actual $ next year or his cap hit? I am curious because cap hit is higher.

Surprising with all that supposed fire power the laffs have how putrid 10.2 mill will’s points are
So you are now saying assists do in fact count?

Different discussion. I’m just shocked that someone only paid to produce offence cause certainly we all know williams struggles with the 200’ game, making 10.2 mill this year, 9 Million next year is well under, WELL UNDER a point a game pace. Terrible return on the dollar, disgusting really.

Blob is angry (his narrative) cause 10.2 Million William was one of his go to’s (him and razor thin Nicolaj “injuries” Ehler) when slagging the Virtanen pick.

No one would take Vantanen over Nylander. No one. You know why? BECAUSE 10.2 MILLION IS NOT HIS CAP HIT.

Curious to see what 6'1 229lbs ShotGun Jake the hitman Virtanen can do in the playoffs hopefully next season, his game suits that fast/gritty intense play in the post season.

*prayers*
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Dreger talking about Tavares - dropping some info saying it wasn't easy breezy.
It wasn’t a slam dunk for Tavares and the Maple leaves

TSN: Darren Dreger was on TSN 1050 and said that John Tavares signing with the Toronto Maple leaves last offseason wasn’t a slam dunk like many had thought.

“There was an interesting back and forth between John Tavares, Pat Brisson and, obviously, the Toronto Maple leaves,” Dreger told First Up on TSN Radio 1050 Toronto.

“I think Tavares initially wanted one year at $15 million. Just a one-year deal from Toronto, ‘Let’s see if it works or not,’ – that didn’t happen. Then they went back and I feel like Toronto offered something around $9.5 or $10 million. Well, that wasn’t going to happen.

And then, finally, Tavares stepped in to the negotiation and basically told Kyle Dubas, ‘Look, I’ll come play for $11 million but I’m not taking less than that. So if there’s a deal to be made, then let’s get it done. Otherwise, I’m going back to the Islanders.’

“So it wasn’t as slam dunk as many of us thought it was on July 1 when it was signed.”

First off, I appreciate you putting up with the hard time some here like to give you....

Is Nylander a better player than Virtanen today?....The knee jerk reaction is yes but when you look at the stats the answer is not so easy....

Both are 22 ...

Nylander has 53 goals and 160 points in 233 games...

Virtanen has 32 goals and 59 points in 207 games....

Nylander plays on a high octane offensive team while Virtanen plays on an offensively challenged team...

Nylander has a cap hit this season of $10,277,000 and the next 5 years at $6,962,000

Virtanen has a cap hit of $1,250,000 for this season and next...

Both players spend too much time playing on the fringes and not enough in the dirty, scoring areas...Virtanen is getting there more often while Nylander seems allergic to dirt...

Dubas and Nylander are under the gun come the playoffs given the contract so will be interesting to see how he performs...

Do the leaves need a Virtanen type of player more so than Nylander when they face the like of the Bruins and Capitals? I think so...

Is one worth $5,700,000 more per year than the other? No...

Should Blob stop whining about Benning's spending in free agency? Based on the Nylander contract the answer is yes...

Take care...

Shit, $10.2 MILLION scored his 6th goal in his 49th game

Why is Auston 54th on the scoring leader board, hovering just over a point a game? I thought him and McDavid together were the future of hockey? McDavid - 112 points in 72 games. Matthews - 69 points in 62 games???

So Tavares did not lie to the Islanders then about wanting to return and Kyle Dubas deserves a ton of credit for signing him.

Mcdavid TOI-2018-19=23:01 avg per game.

Matthews TOI-2018-19=18:26 avg per game

Babcock is an idiot. Matthews doesn't crack the top 80 in TOI in the NHL.

I can't believe you posted the MASSIVE difference in career stats then said "Not so Easy". LOL. Nylander makes much ore because of the world of difference in stats.
Think about it, Virtanen in his ENTIRE career hasn't scored as much as Nylander has ever in 1 full NHl season(61 points both years).

And LOL at trying to spin Virtanen's style into him being some playoff warrior with 0 playoff games. Nylander has 8 points in 13 career playoff games.

This myth that you have to be "Gritty" to succeed is ridiculous. Phil Kessel is one of the very best playoff producers.

Why is a guy that was picked higher than Nylander have such shitty production? Face it, you expected much more from him. You cannot seriously be happy with 59 career points.
And yeah, his salary is not high, there are reasons for that. He had no bargainiing power when signing that deal.
