Dahlen's life was simple. dominate in the AHL and get promoted. It never happened. Either he's not as shit hot as he believes or he has a terrible attitude and half assed it this season in Utica. Either scenario equates to CY being glad he is gone. San Jose drafted Linus so he must have something. Do you think GMJB talked to Petey before flushing this particular turd?
From Dahlen's comments today he sure is playing dumb. Said he never asked for a trade. Never demanded a call up. Doesn't think he's NHL ready but wants a spot in the AHL where he can develop his game. Praised his Utica teammates but remained mum on coaching and management. Acted surprised at the trade. Said he never got a real chance to get the ice time in the AHL and that's all he wants, is an AHL team that appreciates him. Looking forward to a fresh start. Didn't know there were problems, like I said, he was surprised.
Funny, his agent tweeted that he had asked for a trade. Perhaps Dahlen needs talk to his agent.
So, he likes the AHL.
He knows he is not ready for the NHL.
He felt under appreciated in Utica.
Never complained.
Wants a fair chance to dominate in the AHL.
Is prepared to do his time as long as its with an organization that appreciates him.

I actually have concerns about the coaching in Utica. Which goes all the way back to Travis Green.
Which is why I would have liked Dahlen to get a look in the NHL. He came so media hyped. To fall out of favour so quickly is surprising. Especially since there has been no historical problems reported.

Dahlen looked like shit in camp right?
Others have mentioned his overall shittiness in Utica.
I don't see how they could have justified his callup to the other players.

I don't disagree with giving him a shot with Petey given their historical success. As in I can understand why it might have happened. But Jonathan has 29 points in 50 games with Utica. Evan Mceneny, a defenseman, had 29 points in 54 games. Does anyone even remeber who Mceneny is? Why Has he not gotten called to replace Pouliot? Maybe he should ask for a trade? And so on and so forth.
I’ve spoken with players called up from the Utica Comets that have worked with Cull and his coaching staff.
They all say same thing that they work with them everyday. Video, skills and communication. Its a good staff.
Young players need to be patient
Hergott:
The current coach in Van has said time & again that he wants players who are hard to play against and players he can win with. That is what the coaching staff in Utica is trying to develop for him. There is nothing wrong with wanting players to compete the same way in all 3 zones
Kole Lind and Jonah Gadjovich, in their own words have expressed several times how much bigger the step from Jr to pro was for them.
--
Are they behind? Or was the step to the AHL a much bigger leap than many of them expected it to be? Kole Lind and Jonah Gadjovich have said as much, many times. People need to be patient with these kids. They aren’t all EP40 and Brock, some will take time.
Seems Canadians/American players are ok paying their dues and learning their pro craft in the AHL, but Euros/Russians seem to not like it as much, which is why they should stay in euro/khl etc until they are ready.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Yeah, something smells here
Smells like Dahlen got whiny with his agent. Agent decided to run with it and play hardball with Benning and co. Maybe said something like "if you dont want to give him a crack at the NHL now, then maybe you should trade him". Benning decided to move on and called the bluff.
Maybe Vancouver loses out on a player that gets his act together and makes it as a regular in the NHL. Then again, maybe he doesnt, and maybe it sends a strong message to those that remain and others put in extra effort to ensure they become impact NHLers. And maybe Linus turns out to be the BP in the trade. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over time. This could easily work out just like the last prospect Vancouver shipped off to the sharks. Nucks fans were rather Po'd to get just a 7th (Tate) for their future generational talent, McNally (who btw is putting together decent stats in the German DEL-2 ).
