Be a good signing if it was 4 years.
Guess late 30s, even young 40s making big money is just going to keep on keeping on...

I think the Caps might regret that down the road. Who knows maybe he will age well like Justin Williams....

I concur. I like him as a player but this term is dreadful. I didn't like Loui's term when his contract was signed, but this one is worse.

Well Washington is a competitive team so he makes some sense from that point of view. But that contract takes him to 39 !

Takes him to
38 .
An 8-year term gives the Caps a lower cap hit, which is what you want with an open window.
Caps could buy this contract out after 5 or 6 years.
Also, who knows if
compliance buyouts are available in the eventual new CBA.

Dallas places Niemi on waivers for the purpose of a buyout. If he goes unclaimed the Stars will have a cap hit of 1.5 for two years.
The only HW the Canucks need

At this point I would still ship them Edler/Tanev for Niemi and their 1st in 2018.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Dave Semenki has passed away at 59 from liver and pancreatic cancer. Jesus he wasn't very old and apparently was diagnosed just two weeks ago.

All those 80s tough guys are dropping young. I wonder if the horse roids they were taking back then rotted out their organs or something.
See ya later cement-head

That Oilers team used to party like rockstars. Shovelling snow and doing shots for years on end catches up to a guy
