I wouldn't offer anymore than a second round pick for Drouin.

That's it, this year's second. Get it done Benning.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I'd offer up Gaunce and a pick. Much more than that is too much for a guy who has proven nothing, feels entitled to a roster spot and didn't put up points in the AHL. Don't get me wrong - would like to have him - but wouldn't give up Horvat, McCann, or Virtanen at this point.
Edit: Perhaps, Shinkaruk rather than Gaunce.

I wouldn't trade McCann straight up for Drouin, Virtanen I would, but not McCann. I value the fact that McCann is a centre and has done reasonably well in his first year not to do it.
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
You guys are out of your minds. Drouin is going to be an awesome NHL first-liner and a much better player than McCann or Virtanen.
I'm assuming most of you haven't actually watched the kid play.
Anyway he seems like a bit of a drama queen, but he obviously feels like he isn't getting a fair shake in Tampa. Probably a bad move refusing to play, I could see Yzerman sitting on this trade until next season out of spite.

TBL should fire the coach, as he's evening driving Stamkos out, let alone the superallstar 1-liner LW Drouin.

Yeah, they seem to have trouble keeping their players happy. There was another guy who had issues there as well, name escapes me right now because bong hits.SKYO wrote:TBL should fire the coach, as he's evening driving Stamkos out, let alone the superallstar 1-liner LW Drouin.

To get Drouin you have to give. He should be playing in the NHL right now. I said McCann but agree as a centre he is more valuable to us right now.
Virtanen has shown potential but let's be honest, if he were a prospect for any other team we wouldn't trade a second for him. I'd rather trade him than give up this year's first. Brock Boeser? He hasn't proven anything. Gaunce and Shinkaruk? Maybe that's enough. But Drouin isn't a bust, just not playing. And it was his agent who staged the walk out. Let's remember Calgary called Baertschi a malcontent prima donna too. The kid is unhappy in Tampa for whatever reasons.
I think he ends up in Detroit though, maybe Boston.

Who cares if McCann plays center ? Canucks have Horvat and Sedin will be here for another two+ years . Sutter the foundational toothpick is signed for huge coin for six more years and has to play 17-18 minutes to justify that contract. Hopefully they get a top 5-8 pick this year which may result in another center . Drouin is a way better prospect than McCann regardless of position .

Drouin's value would probably be better in the offseason. He hasn't been with the Lightening for 40 games, so if they keep him suspended or in the minors it doesn't appear that this season will count towards free agency. They could also, possibly, go to the NHL to toll his contract, meaning he'd still have 2 years on his ELC. That would increase his value at the draft or in the summer, when teams have more roster flexibility.
Yeah, if I'm Yzermann I say "fine, fuck you too" and let him sit past the deadline and then Johnny Drama can decide if playing in the minors (and killing another year of his ELC) is worth it. If Yzermann gets the deal he wants, then ship him out.
If I'm the Canucks I dangle Virtanen. If they want Boeser or Shinkaruk or Gaunce that's cool, but let's be honest they will have better offers. Rumours were swirling around possible Shattenkirk-Drouin or Vatanen-Drouin deals, I don't think the Canucks have (or want to) the horses to put that deal together. Drouin is quite talented, but I think the Canucks are trying to acquire and build a "character" team, and he certainly doesn't seem to be a character guy.
I'm hoping the Canucks keep stocking the cupboard, we're not in a position to move multiple assets for one guy, and I don't want to get into a bidding war where we have to come up with a better offer than something around a player like Vatanen or Shattenkirk.
