GDT: Canucks host Sens: Apr 22 7pm - SNP

Post by Cornuck »

Well, I've done what I could to get the team back on track, but have a BAD feeling about this game... :/

We can catch the flames with a win tonight (and still have 5 games in hand) and put us within striking distance of the habs.

These last 2 games haven't been pretty, but they've been a great test of team character, which is something Benning has always strived for. Like him or not - or bitch about over-payments - but this current team seems to be gelling again (agreed: where was it at the beginning of the year?)

With luck, Holtby has found his game and we won't have ride Demko hard into the playoffs.
It is not often that a game between Vancouver and Ottawa pits two teams that are playing well. These have been two struggling franchises over the last few seasons, especially the Senators, but both come in playing pretty good hockey. In fact, Vancouver has looked very good after their extended break.

The big factor in this contest is that the Canucks have absolutely dominated between these teams. Vancouver is 21-8 in the last 29 meetings and has won five straight in Vancouver. The Senators have had no answers for them, and I expect that to be the case here as well.

Prediction: Take the Vancouver Canucks (-149)

Canucks:
5-0 in their last five games against teams with a winning percentage of less than 40%.
6-2 in their last eight games as the favorite.
9-4 in their last 13 games.

sens:
8-21 in their last 29 games on a Thursday.
17-41 in their last 58 games following a victory.
18-57 in their last 75 games on the road.
GO CANUCKS GO!

I won't be able to watch tonight. Have a birthday party to go to. Don't worry, its my two bubble people! One Aussie and one Brit. Not big hockey fans

So maybe I'll record it. They seem to do ok when I record.
The only HW the Canucks need

It's time to see if Vesey can figure it out, or I want to see Lind in for some games. Vesey is failing the eye test.

I wouldn’t mind rotating a couple those guys through, getting them 4-5 games each (and sneak a couple starts for Mikey in as well).. just not all at the same time.

Now that Begle and Rooster are out, we will see more the lineup we wanted.

If they ice Micky's projected line-up, we'll have 7 players that were not on the ice opening night.

We had 2 Hobey Baker winners in the lineup up until last week and both were/are borderline NHLers.

Vesey absolutely stole the award from Kyle Connor and Thatcher Demko.

Not all that impressed with Jimmy Feces tweener skillz. Not impressed with how he treated the team that drafted him.

I liked the Gaudette for Highmore deal when it was done and I'm still liking it today, Gaudette lacks the strength and determination to hold onto a spot on merit. Hobey Vesey - same sort of thing.

Highmore is going to be the keeper among this little group battling for a depth forward spot.

*oh, and 5-2 Canucks. Cornuck is on a roll, that pool team of his is about to take off too...

Sportsnet Stats@SNstats
Brock Boeser has 10 points (5 G, 5 A) in 9 career games vs. the Senators
Canucks are 9-0-0 in those games
